SG2100 and PANSAT 2500A

Just wondering if anyone else here has run into problems with this combination. Pansat 2500A with DMS SG-2100 Motor (MOTECK??)

Typical issues are:

1. Satellite doesn't move at all when you change channels (which are one different satellites)

2. Sometimes dish moves to extreme west or east (to the hardware limits) and then just stays there. Dish will not move again unless you move the dish manually via the motor buttons, or go into Satellite setup and choose 1.2 and move the dish East or West.

3. while changing channels, dish will move to some other location and might move back to the proper location if you continue to change channels.

4. Changing transponders from the same satellite sometimes will cause the dish to some previously stored location (random?) not sure.

These are some things that have occured to me while testing this combination.

I've tried PANSAT technical support, tried contacting the people where I purchased the receiver and the motor and no response as of yet.

:x

That sypmtom sounds like the receiver is not communicating well with
the motor due to poor cables or connections.

Drive motor back to zero, do a reset on the motor, power down the
receiver(switch on the back), go to southern most sat, store that location
in USALS. If that does not work out, Look seriously at the cables.

Someone else tried the same motor brand (SG2100) with a Pansat 2300A and it worked perfectly, when he switched the receiver to a Pansat 2500A, with the exact same motor, it failed with similar results as I mentioned.

Good Grief Charlie Brown.

It seems, its never easy.
There is a recently new firmware version posted on the pansat website
for the 2500. Maybe that will help.

No, its never easy. I emailed Pansat support, and they claimed that they have no problems with Diseqc 1.2 and USALS motors. They seemed to ignore the fact that the same motor works with a 2300A

I'm going to try a shorter cable run just to test. and yeah, I noticed the new flash. I'll investigate that route. Thanks

I tried the updated flash, but of course Pansat put the wrong version on the Web site. It was a PAL version, so I got stuck with a B&W and rolling screen. I managed to get it back to NTSC, but now all the satellites are European ones. So, I need to reflash again with the correct version which they now claim is on the Web site.

Anyway, it still didn't work with the PAL version of the Flash. (I manally entered a few satellites to test)

I've read somewhere that you can change the satellite location from east
to west on the Euro version. Did you see that. If thats true the motor
would travel the wrong directions. (oppisite) Did you have exactly the
same symptoms. Did you try the short cable between the receiver and
motor.

relativityt, not sure if ya saw my posts about this but I had the same problems you are having with my SG2100. I exchanged it for a STAB HH120 and all's great now. I do believe it's the motor itself and not the receiver.

All the satellites pre-configured with the default PAL firmware are mostly satellites that I cannot receive from my location (HotBird, etc.) so I didn't bother with modifying them since they would have all wrong frequencies anyway if I did edit them. I just added new satellites(AMC 5 and T5) with the proper location and frequencies. It worked, but I still having problems with the motor. My long. and lat. is correct (in the USALS settings) and I've also tried just using the 1.2 settings.

My next step is to flash it back to the proper NTSC file that is now posted at PansatUsa's site. I'm sure that won't make a difference, but I will try.
I'm going to try a temporary shorter cable length as well, just to eliminate the possibility of a bad coax or some other interference with the other coax cables that are nearby.

I emailed Pansat, and they claim NO PROBLEMS with motors and their receivers, and that its my problem. I might be spending all this time on this for nothing, but I don't have another motor and I can't return this motor. I just want to make sure I try all the possibilities before I throw this receiver back at Pansat and tell them to make it work.

The motor works with a 2300A and a ULTRA with 2.32 firmware

Hey everyone just and update on this... Pansat has updated the firmware again to version 2.22N which fixes the SG-2100 Motor Problem.

I heard that you need to set the positioner to USAL or diseqc1.3 in order to make PANSAT 2500A to work with SG2100. Can some one try this out and report back.

Thx,
Sony
