My SM3D12 results are OK with my Ultra

Received the new motor on Thursday.

Yesterday after reading about some of the trouble others were having, I thought I'd "bench test" the unit before I unbolted the dish.
I put the motor in line between receiver and my Diseqc switch on the floor in the room next to the receiver. It worked just fine, moving between the 2 sats I had programmed in to test with.

This morning, I installed and lined it up with AMC5 (my southern most sat) using a small TV on the roof. Since I had the dish already fixed on AMC5, it took about 2 minutes to find it once I had the motor in place.
I tweaked the dish elevation and the motor's mount till I got about 75 percent quality (best I could get).
Using USALS, I selected and had the motor move to Telstar 5. No problem, there's the quality bar.... Quick scan on the roof, and there's all the international channels!
So I disconnected the box and tv from the roof and put the receiver back in the house. Works great so far. Although I can't get Galaxy 10R due to trees in the way, I have about 7 or 8 sats scanned and working. My furthest satellite west is around 119-121 degrees, don't remember which one, but it only has 1 FTA channel thanking me for getting a "Superdish".

The last page or 2 of the manual has some detailed explanation on what to do if the east and/or west most satellites are out of alighnment a bit, by moving the pole or the dish mount on the motor. I'm getting better signals to the left of AMC5, so I might be a little off and will adjust & tweak when I have some more time.

So far, in my install the SM3D12 rotor works great with USALS on my Fortec Ultra. I'm on the 0506 firmware release.

I got mine Thursday, installed it Friday and working fine with 786v3 receiver. Got about 19 sats locked in now. Might add it only worked in the 1.2 setting. It wouldn"t move with the 1.3 setting.

This is actually a "bug" of 786v3 USALS feature. The Diseqc 1.3 of the 786v3 is not designed for N.American users. If you looks at the Long, it's always East. I have not spent much time to test the 786v3 Diseqc 1.3, but here is a trick which might get this feature work:
Long of East = 360 - long of West.
Example: if your longtitude is 123W, use 237E instead.
I can't confirm if this trick works, but it's worth a try.
I program all the sat locations using Diseqc 1.2. I am extreamly happy with the 786v3. It's been on 24/24 for more than year, still running strong.

Hi

Actually the 786v3 works fine for North America. When you go to the DiSEqC 1.3 and enter your longitude, make sure you click on PageUP button to change from E to W (or just blank).

On the Lifetime ULTRA you will need to click on the VOLUME UP button to change it from E to W.

Try that and let us know.
