Does X really mark the spot?

I'm considering getting an sg2100, I have a direct tv dish with 3lnb.
To set up the motor I find true south, and that is where the motor calculates from is that right? I have a nexus card with disecq 1.2 and go to X, am I right that X would always be true south? ( Lots of good info on the site btw) Thanks Spiv
