sg2100 azimuth question

Hi,

I bought the SG2100 and the site data for dish aligment, which has a list of azimuth readings. What's the different between the azimuth and the compass reading? or the azimuth and satellite dish angle (eg, T5 at 97 deg) ? I don't know what to use this azimuth for.

Unfortunatelly, the technical support just confused me more

Thanks ahead

Xanh

Re: sg2100 azimuth question

97W for T5 is the longtitude of this sat. The azimuth is the degrees which you use with your compass to determine the direction of the sat.

Thanks Michael,

Have anyone try out the free software in the "dish aligning chart" section posted on the www.dmsiusa.com? Its name is SMW link from www.smw.se; I used it to calculate the azimuth for T5 and it's way off to 206 deg??? in sadoun website, it showed 174 deg for T5 azimuth.

I have not used the software you posted. The one on Sadoun works fine for me. Make sure you +/- magnetic deviation to the azimuth you get from Sadoun online calculator.

What's the best receiver w/ "go to X" function out there in the market? in term of easy-to-use and price. Mine only has Diseqc 1.2 and it's quite a pain in the butt to set up the SG2100 mover w/ diseqc 1.2

Also, I plan to add a circular LNB (I got the dishnetwork LNB w/ 2 outputs from the dish 500 system). What's the recommaneded switchs (2in-1out & 1in-2out) brand name on the market that can work best?

How many max LNBs can I add on the 36" oval dish w/ 2100 dish mover? Can I add the Dtv dual LNB? a dual or triple universal LNB?

"dtsexpert" are u working for sadoun co. as a tech support? I don't know much about FTA stuffs and just want to buy the equipments w/ good knowledgable tech support so that I can surf the sky for hobbies w/o spending a lot of time configuring them.

I bought a few stuffs from a dealer w/ tech support. But, their tech supports don't seem to know anything and confused me more, just a waste of time and money w/ them. This forum's very useful.

No, I don't work for Sadoun. Just mod this forum at my spare time.
I have 2 Fortec receiver, 786v3 and Lifetime, like them both. As I know, the 786NA and 786v3 are almost identical, the only different is the 786NA is USALS (aka Diseqc 1.3 or go to x). Look like the 786NA is a good candidate.
About the Diseqc switch, I am using a Genix/Pansat 4 ways, which works fine with my Fortec Lifetime.
I don't see a need to add more lnbf to the motorized dish becuase the dish will track all the viewable sats (assuming the dish is setup correctly).
Even I don't work for Sadoun, I am here very often. If you need help, feel free to post your questions here. We will try to help you as much as we can.
