Quick SG2100 question

Can the SG2100 be configured to rotate left and right to a specfic satellite? Because where my dish is, it cannot rotate full from south to east, but from south to west it can fully rotate. Is there a way to configure this with it?

Re: Quick SG2100 question

You should be able to move the move to both sides from the center (your true south sat). I think you might accidently set the West limit close to your duesouth, therefore the mount can't travel further towards the West.
Try to reset the limits.

Im not sure if you understood me. The movement of my dish to even true south is impeded by the side of my house. the dish is mounted on the siding to on the right side of the house and the dish cannot move much further east then Telstar 5 (I need 214 true azimuth to point to it) To the right of 214 degrees is completely clear. But the dish hits my house probably at 200-210 true. My question is when I set up my SG2100 is there a way to say to it DO NOT GO MORE THAN x amount east? Or else it will hit the house, will this damage the motor? Btw I am located in NJ.

You can set EAST/WEST limit any way you want. One the limits are set, the dish will not move any further from the point you priously set.

Ahh this is what I wanted to know. As always THANKS...

But will I able to track the arc correctly even if I can't point to precisely true south sat? Where do you recommend I begin?

Wherever you mount your dish/motor assembly, it has to point to "True South" first to get a good tracking on the ARC. If the dish hits the wall at true south, then this dish will not track the ARC. You will need to find a better location.

Yes, you can set up h-h mount without aiming the dish at truesouth but it's a bit tricky. Here is what you can do:
1. Set the h-h mount elevation (equal to your location lat).
2. Set the dish elevation (whatever degs you get from the online caculator).
3. Use Diseqc 1.3 (USALS) move the dish to the sat you want tune (make sure you key in your Lat and Long correctly).
4. Try to get lock on the signal. If adjustment is needed, only adjust the dish elevation.
I have used this approach to set up one of my motorized dishes without aiming at true south. It tracks the arc OK.

I see.... at what point there should I set the east and west limits and does it matter which satellite i start with?

Im also not sure how the dual lnbf stuck together side by side with the plastic straps work, as seen on Sadoun's setup pictures. It is not bad to have the extra lnb off center of the dish? Would this produce less signal/quality then if it would be in center? Also, wouldnt the azimuth be off for the extra lnb or no?

Your assumption is correct. The circular on the side does not have correct focal length, but still manage to get lock signal since DN/BV satellites is very strong. If the dish tracks the arc correctly, you will get all DN/BellVu signal as well.

Oh I see. I also found a post by Sadoun on this website... he says that since the dish aims for the main LNB, by using Diseqc 1.2's feature MOVE, I have to manually aim a few more degrees to lock on to the DBS signal and store it. Is this the other, better way of doing it?

That's the only way to do. Moving few degs to East or West depends on which side you mount the circular. Here is how it work:
Let assume the dish parks at T5 @ 97W, if you stand behind dish and mount the circular at the right side of center, the circular will hit a sat at aproximately 93W. If you mount the circular at the left side of the center, it will hit a sat aproximately at 101W.

So its my choice to which side im putting the circular on? and also, does the SG2100 come with some other part(s) other than the motor itself? Because the way I see it i still can't visualize how I will install it on a pole mount fortec star 90 cm dish. I haven't seen any pics of that setup!

Do not worry. You will get everything you need in order to mount it to a pole. Yes, it is your choice to which side to mount the circular lnbf.

ok one last thing and I think I am ready to install my motor when it arrives. What is the purpose of the east and west functions and what happens if I press either of these two buttons on the mount?

You can move the dish without the receiver using these 2 buttons on the mount. I don't use them so I don't know how useful they are.
