need just a tad bit of help

The ? i got is that i have a brand new satworks 3688 reciever and i am haveing just a tad bit of a problem of adding a dtv lnb to the system i had a bec 6600+ reciever hooked up to the satellite dish that the satworks is now hooked too but the new reciever does not want to a recieve and signal from the dtv lnb. Here what i did when the bec reciever was hooked to the same dish i got a 4x1 switch i hooked the ku lnb to number one and the dtv lnb to number two everything on the ku lnb comes in great and also on the dtv one but when i hooked the satworks reciever to the dish all i would get would be the ku one not the dtv and on the satworks reciever it doesn't show quality at 98% like it did on the bec reciever.now if the bec reciever is more sincative i would assume so but its just strange oh and on the satworks reciever if i was to onhook the ku lnb off the 4x1 switch then i would get the dtv but once i hooked the ku lnb back up i would get nothing on ku lnb it would be the oppesite.Meaning which ever lnb i hooked up first would be the signal that i would recieve and nothing else scratches head a few times. well thanks for any info you can give

Re: need just a tad bit of help

Fuzzy,
Did you double check the LO and Diseqc input settings in your Satwork?
Each receiver use different formular to calculate the signal strength and quality. Comparing signal strenght/quality of 2 different brands is like apple to orrange...:-)

hmmmm

you know i just hooked the ku lnb up to a 3x4 multi switch made by perfact vision and come to find out that i was able to hook up another reciever of course the sec reciever can only watch what is on that satellite that the dish is locked on but over all its not to bad but in order for that to work i only had to use one side of the 2 lnb inputs so i would get both ver. and hor. polarties lol strange but it worked.

Re: hmmmm

Tell me more about your set up. Here is few option for you:
1. Slaving approach: Let the Bec control the switch, slave the Satwork to the Bec. You can watch different channels on the same sat as long as they are on the same polarity.
2. If both your circular and linear lnbf are dual, get another switch, run another cable into your house. Setting up this way, both receivers are not independent.
Important: If you go for the slaving approach, make sure you turn of the lnbf power of the Satwork. If the SAtwork does not have the feature to turn off the lnbf power, you should use a DC blocker to block the DC from the Satwork travelling to the Bec.

ok

ok but the way i got it now is the satworks is the main reciever that moves the dish and i got the 3x4 switch between the motor and dish and thats what i hooked the bec reciever too like i said i can view everything on that one satellite on both recievers but if the satworks was to move the dish the bec reciever would not view anything and yep it worked. But i still can't seem to get the dtv lnb to work like i said before i set the lo freq. to 11250 and i tried that on unversial and normal but still nothing. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Re: ok

Fuzzy,
1.For the motorized dish, any switch must be installed between the lnbf(s) and the motor.
2. 3x4 switch will not work propertly if you use Diseqc command to control it. Use the Diseqc 4x1 to switch the lnbfs. I am sure the Satwork support Diseqc 1.0/2.0/1.2.
Again, If you plan to make both receiver work indepently, you have to upgrade the both lnbfs to dual, then run 2 cable into your house, one of the Satwork, the other for the Bec. You can either use Bec or Satwork to move the dish.

Re: but but but

Fuzzy,
I don't have the Satwork so I can confirm it supports Diseqc 1.0
I just check out the specs, look to me that it does not support Diseqc 1.0
But it does support 22khz and 0/12v switch. If you plan to use the Satwork as a Master one, you will have to use the 0/22khz switch instead of Diseqc 4x1.

Re: Holy smokes

You are welcome. I am just supprise that the manufacture left out the Disqec 1.0 which is very popular. So people, please read the specs before making the decision...:-)
