SG2100 is from Bizzaro World

Other than just installing the thing on a pole, isn't there any instructions on how to operate it? This thing is from Bizzaro World where 58.0ºW means South SouthEast 42º. How can this be? How is this?

But no one is telling, no one saying a thing.

Hey Sadoun, if I knew you'd ship from Bizzaro World,
I'd paid you with Bizzaro Money.

If this thing thinks East is West and West is East, how
am I going to find satellites with it? Isn't there any
instructions from Bizzaro Land that will help me find
an East and West satellite so I can get a signal and
lock my settings on it? I'm at 37.7N and 91.1W. I don't
know what that is in Bizzaro Language.

1. Sadoun has a very nice instruction of how to set up the diseqc 1.2 h-h mount, please read it.
2. Each brand has its own software, therefore operate the diseqc 1.2 might be slightly different. Check your receiver manual.

I have read it many times and have the SG2100 installed. I think the SG2100 elevation and Dish declination is correct. What I can't figure out is how to find a satellite and know the dish is pointing at it so I can lock in a signal. PAS 9 is 58.0ºW. Which is azimuth 131º. Which to me is 42ºS.E. I don't get it. Where are the instructions for this? 58ºWest points East? I thought satellite PAS 9 @ 58.0ºW would be to my West. But my Dish points East for it. Should I loosed my nuts and try to find a signal for PAS 9 @ 58.0ºW in the East???

1.Did you aim your dish at true south sat first, G11@ 91W?
2. If your receiver is USALS, keying your long and lat, using the USALS feature (Diseqc 1.3), it will move the dish to your desired sat automatically.
3. If your receiver is not USALS compatible, then you have to move the dish using Diseqc 1.2 button.

Thanks!
I think I got it now.
Lifetime is USALS compatible.
Hope I got G11@ 91W in my Antenna Setup Sat list.
If not I'll update with the NA TP Data list and look for it again.

The only Bizzaro left is G11 is 91º West of what? But no matter,
I don't need to know that now. I think I got enough info to get
it set up already. Big headache looking for 58ºWest in the East.
It turned my world Bizzaro.

I think Sadouns Install Instructions should explain this too a little.
I mean 58ºWest is in my East to my motor? That is 42º SouthEast
to us folks around here.

Cool!

From the other thread:
Quote:
The west and east designation pertains to (I think) international
date-line coordinates and wraps around the earth for 180° from that
point.
So I think I'm out of Bizarro Land for now. 8)

Sorry for all the Bizzaro Stuff, but my headache was more than I could
bear alone.

Thanks for helping me.

One reason your world is so "Bizarro" is because you don't have a firm grasp on the terminology here -- If a satellite is parked at 91 degrees WEST - that means its geosyncronous orbital position is 91 degrees WEST of 0 degrees longitude - 91 degrees EAST would put it at 91 degrees EAST of 0 degrees longitude. Imagine all the satellites sitting directly above the equator; each one parked at a certain position - this "position" is referenced to where it sits relative to its equatorial spacing (in degrees) with the International Date Line as 0 degrees - or the "starting point".

Having said all that crap - it gets a little confusing because we are all north of the equator - well, most of us here anyways - and so now as we "look" down toward the equator where all the satellites are sitting - as we move our dishes and motors and stuff "WEST" it appears that we are moving to our EAST but that is because we are now turned around (180 degrees) and facing the equator.

Now that I've confused the heck out of you (and myself as well :? ) -- carry on...

No, no, what you said is all clear to me now. I makes perfect sense. I got it.

I just couldn't find that satellite geek info in any instructions at the start.
My first impulse was to move to South America and set the SG2100 up there. :?

 then you would have to hold the remote upside down to get the correct operation.
