If I was not bald I'd probrably spend the rest of this day ripping my hair out. I have bought my equipment for about a good month now and I have absolutely no clue what I am doing wrong with finding the signal. I live in Lancaster Pennsylvania which is about 75 miles west of Philadelphia. Up until now I am not so sure I even have the right coordinates.
My equipments are a Foretec Star 36 inch dish, lifetime classic NA fortec star receiver, universal LNB and a satellite finder gadget.
I will pay whoever can lend a hand and help me snag the Vietnamese channel from the US which I believe is the AMC4 satellite?? My zip code would be 17601. Please contact me by phone if you are able to help 215-239-4556.

Go to Sadoun Satellite Sales ( 1-888-519-9595 ) and in the right column you will find a link to tech support. You want stationary install tips. There are calculators to help you with settings. Be prepared to find the wrong sat. It does not matter the important thing is to find a sat. Once identified you can adjust from there. The largest problem people have with first installs is patience. You must (did I say must?) go slow when moving the dish fishing for signal. Did I mention you really and I mean really need to go slow when fishing for signal? Have a TV and receiver out at the dish. This will greatly speed up the process. Trying to adjust and go inside then out to try again or even having someone on a cell phone talking back and forth is not good enough. By the time they can relay to you what has occurred you have moved out of signal.

Did I mention you need to move very slowly when adjusting the dish? Make sure your receiver is set to an active transponder when searching for signal. This info can be found at LyngSat - Lyngemark Satellite in fact the tp info for the channel you desire is: 12120V30000. In closing when you find signal do a scan and report back with the channels you find. That will helps us identify what sat you are on and we can help you adjust from there.

P.S.
When adjusting the dish slow movement will yield the best results.

I ordered a 40" Fortec Star dish with a motor to get VTV4 on 97w and the Vietnamese channel on 101. I tried looking for the signal for 3-4 hours until I finally gave up. I also have a satellite finder, didn't help much.

So I looked in my local Yellow Pages and called around. Got estimates for $85 service calls plus $50 per hour, these guys were trying to rip me off. Then I finally called this Vietnamese guy(also was listed in Yellow Pages) who installs FTA satellite systems.

This guy did it within minutes, without the satellite finder and only charged me $75. He set up both dishes, one for 97w(VTV4) and 101(the other Vietnamese channel) with no problems so I have a brand spankin new motor laying around. Kinda made me think that I didn't give it much effort, oh well what's done is done. If you can't do it yourself, take your time and look around for prices. There out there, you just gotta look. GOOD LUCK!!

If you want some self-education, you could intentionally mess up the aiming of one of them, and then figure out how to lock it in again

The Vietnamese channel (called VPTV) on AMC4 is a piece of cake to snag - at least compared to VTV4 on IA5.

Make sure your receiver is set to the proper transponder coordinates for VPTV: 12020 MHz, VER & SR=30,000.

Also check that your receiver setup matches your LNB type - ie: standard or universal. Make that "LNB POWER" is turned "ON" in the receiver. Make sure your mast is plumb and all that jazz - see general installation hints on Sadoun's website.
