S-sm21h ??

Hello evryone.
Well I got the S-SM21H from Sadum , I installed this way
The circular LNBF is a single Direct TV brand new my neighbour gave me.

Circular = LNC B 13/18V

Universal = LNC S 13/18v

RX = Motor

I have the Fortec Star Classic NA , with the system I have in my signature , the system works great with the Universal LNBF but with the circular LNBF the motor does not go to the satellites , it says it is moving but stays on the same position.
My questions are
1st is my hook up correct?
2nd on this receiver what should my settings be for that satellite
Thanks in advance.

Your switch for the 2 lnbf's should be between the motor and the lnbf's. Is this your configuration?

Yes the RX is the middle connection on the switch and I have it to the motor. I am not sure if I need to set something up on the receiver's menu.
Thanks

What????????? What type of switch are you using? Should be coax from receiver to motor, coax from motor to switch, coax from switch to lnbf1, coax from switch to lnbf2. The drive from the motor will burn out a switch if placed between the motor and receiver. If you are using aftermarket software in your receiver you need to contact whoever wrote the software. Any help I offer is based on factory software and will be of no use if you are not using factory software

Perhaps I did not explain well since you say quote:

""If you are using aftermarket software in your receiver you need to contact whoever wrote the software. Any help I offer is based on factory software and will be of no use if you are not using factory software""

Not sure what you mean I have not change any software in my receiver since I bougth it from Sadoun.
I am talking about setting on the receiver to recognize the switch and yes I have receiver to motor , motor to the RX terminal of swicth and the LNB`s maybe I bougth the wrong switch but on the description it says
Sadoun S-SM21H 2-Way (2 IN- 1 OUT) 22KHZ Multi-Switch
Use for DSS and FTA reception. I have only interest in the GOAL , NASA and music channels , I get enough FTA
S-SM21H from Sadum

Found the problem! You can not use a 22KhZ switch with a UNI lnbf. They have 22Khz built in. Buy a DiSEqC switch and set your receiver accordingly and you should resolve your problem. Or swap out your UNI lnbf for a standard lnbf

Thanks for your help that explains it I supose , I thought it would work but I am very new at all this and just went by the description...."Use for DSS and FTA reception" , not a big deal I will just order a regular DiSEqC switch .
One more question not sure if you have a Fortec receiver but do I need to change on the DisEqC to something besides off? The picture below is a generic picture from the Sadoun web site. In general when I go from one LNB to the other would you know what the settings should be ? Or could you point me to somewhere this is explain??
Thanks in advance

set your linear lnb to port 1 and the circular lnb to port 2 and that should work for you.

make sure you also put the coax from lnb's in corresponding ports on your switch.

That should fix it. Just align your receiver settings ofr DiSEqC to match your actual connections. As Rainman states set the receiver to port 1 for the linear lnbf and then make sure the coax is connected to port 1 from the linear lnbf. Same for the circular except use port 2. I am not sure what the circular settings would be but common is 11250.

Thanks again to every one that responded to my questions.

I do have one more. If the 22khz does not work for what I am trying to do I am just wondering what application would the 22khz switch be used for?
Probably a stupid question but I am curious as to why they make one .
Regards

As Steve said, a universal lnbf uses 22khz to switch between the 2 LO freqs. It's just that you can't use 22khz for 2 different purposes. I think that your receiver probably grays out the 22khz setting if you've chosen a universal lnbf in the setup.

I the 22KHz thing doesn't explain your original question though, about the dish not moving, that's probably related to your settings in the USALS section. However I'm not sure I understand how you have these lnbfs mounted. Do you have the DTV lnbf strapped off to the side of the universal? If so, you're going to have to play around to find a suitable position, and then play around to figure out where to send the dish to aim that lnbf, as it will probably be looking several degrees one way or the other from where the main universal lnbf is aiming.

One use would be for older style DishNet when you have 2 dishes pointed to different sats. One feed from each LNB would hook to the switch which combines the signal to 1 coax. If they are dual LNB then you would need 2 switches.
