To 180cm or to 240cm

A 180cm boils down to this:
142606 DN Install Kit 25.00 25.00 FS6D 180cm Fortec Dish 175.00 175.00 Collar for C-Band Dish 20.00 20.00 FSKU-4v with dish purchase 35.00 35.00 MercuryII 169.00 169.00 HARL-3624 Super PowerJack Actuator 59.00 59.00Pole / mount = $69.00
Total = $548.00 + shipping

This has 4 lnb not sure if a special bracket / fitting will be needed to mount them ?? / missing parts ??

The 240cm boils down to this:
142606 DN Install Kit 25.00 25.00 Collar for C-Band Dish 20.00 20.00 HARL-3624 Super PowerJack Actuator 59.00 59.00 (CLASSIC,FC08,BSC621-2)C1 FTA C-Band Satellite System 399.00 399.00 MercuryII receiver upgrade to system 40.00 40.00Pole / mount = $69.00
Total = $607.00 + shipping

Not sure if there is parts I am missing.

Looked at doing 2x 100cm or 2x 120cm with 2 classic receivers but for the 2x120cm and quad lnb's = $951
142606 DN Install Kit 25.00 50.00 (CLASSIC,SG2100,DISH,ULN1)M1 FTA Motorized Satellite System 229.00 458.00 HH120 Motor upgrade 69.00 138.00 120CM Dish Upgrade with system purchase 130.00 260.00 FSKU-4v Upgrade with system purchase 25.00 50.00

Suggestions / comments /advice = welcome

Likely I would be better of getting a big dish and adding another receiver later.

Two things......
I don't see anything in the list to power the actuator, ie a VBOX or an analog receiver. I also don't see a polar mount. I don't think Sadoun, or anyone else I know of, sells these mounts separately. Ie you can't track the arc without a polar mount, and the C-band dishes that Sadoun sells are fixed mounts only. You could probably make a polar mount, but if you're planning to track the arc, you're probably better off getting a dish that already comes with a polar mount.

Angry

I was looking at the "MercuryII 169.00" as a possible receiver / diseq mover not sure if it will work or if it can move a actuator.

Darn no polar mount = stuck with current rubish cable.
darn darn darn.

So I am stuck with the only possible Satellite solution item / biggest dish to buy from Sadoun = 120cm motorized.

Will this 120cm even get more than 4 / 6 / 8 / 10 / 20 satellites.
I do not want to buy a small dish and later be stuck with a white elephant and have waisted my money.
That is why I wanted info and according to the info go big dish = worthwile investment.

I thought that the 120cm is only for 2 or 3 dish network ?? satellites directly above me or something and good for nothing else ?? Seeing I am staying at the end of the earth here.
Will I be able to get DW tv or even ?? ia5 ?? the one with the most FTA channels.

Why then do they sell 180cm and 240cm , I can not imagine being stuck on one satellite , can one even use a 180cm / 240cm with it stuck on one satellite = defeats the purpose of having a dish ??? I am clueless now.

Just when I was ready to send the credit card to buy this. darn darn darn.

DARN

Well someone posted a message a couple months ago about seeing a Fortec dish, not sure if it was the 240 or 180, coming with a polar mount. At that time I went to the Fortec web page, and couldn't find any mention of it. Perhaps if this is a new item at Fortec, that maybe Sadoun will offer it eventually. Also, it isn't that difficult to make your own polar mount, however it's certainly easier to get a dish that already has one.

Re the Mercury. That won't control an actuator by itself, like it will control the DiseqC1.2 motors. It can control an actuator though via the VBOX. Ie the Mercury sends signals to the VBOX, and the VBOX controls the actuator.

I think Sadoun now sells a motor to work with the 180.cm dish will still need a vbox to operate the motor though.

Thank you, Now I have hope again.

WOW thank's this will really help.

Just found Motek for 180cm but it still needs VBOX.

Motek HH Motor for 180cm

Sorry did not see this Motek .

Might be better to go 180cm as I can mount it on roof and mounting does not equate to extreme measures / concrete etc.

3 feet x 3 feet brick chimney might be best mount place , or even on south facing slope of roof.

Thank you again.
Sorry for the last post I was just as depressed as a chicken laying a ball bearing. Better now.

Let everyone know what you think of running C band on the smaller dish.

Most of the guys that do serious C band say 10 foot is really the size required for optimal results.

I do limited C band on 4 footer and the BSC-621-2, only a handful of channels, I sure wish it was bigger.

boroda1 is on a distinguished road
Jaeger is good, wish i had one.
But still requires VBOx, because it needs 36V to power

? The specs I saw at :

http://www.jaeger.com.tw/tvro/superj..._superjack.htm

say that it's for 1.2M to 2.4 M ?
Looks like a nice motor. They even have one with a jack on the motor elevation (which unfortunately is not as useful as a declination motor, but can be useful).

Looks a bit expensive

I searched google.co.uk for " jaeger h-h motor 2.4m " to find it again and found several references to it being able to go upto 240cm / 2.4m dish but I suppose it depends on the actual weight of the dish and what it is made off.

3" and shipping weight 18+kg's x 2.2lbs per KG / about 40 pounds. not on same site.

Would be nice but will be about the price of the 240cm dish bundle here and then you still need a adaptor plate of Uk20.00 extra.
20.00 there is like a 20.00 here if you earn the local currency.
Fits up to 2.4 m dish (adaptor plate may be required )
