not able to get full signal

Hi everyone, I have spend more than 5 hours tried to figure out how to install my dish. I lived in 94956 which is north Cal, and I was able to get signal up to 97 % on quality and 95% on level. I picked 110 Echostar and I have coolsat 5000 platinum. one of the tech told me that in order for me to get picture i will need 98% on both. can anyone help me figure this out?

Huh? I can watch TV with a low quality has 33%, though the picture tends to pixelate... I can get a steady sharp picture once I'm in the 40% + range... I dont think I get anything higher than 80% quality on the Fortec Classic NA receiver.

What satellite are you trying to receive? If you are trying 110 with receiver you mentioned, I'd recommend reading forum rules first.

To get picture from 110 you will need a subscription to DN and a DN receiver. Easiest way is to call them. They usually give the equipment away with programming including install. If you are attempting to receive true FTA and are having problems you will need to post the equipment you are attempting to use.

Not true, as I'm sure you know. I'm watching FTA on 12341 right now (although it's a infomercial). Not much fta there, but there is some.

But would you go through all the trouble spending couple of hundred $$ and setting up just to watch infomercials?

No, but we still don't know if that is what finalxgohan had in mind. He may have just been looking for that sat to help tune. Maybe it's his southern most sat. Not likely I know (particularly if he's getting 95% Q via linear), but possible. Also, that's not always infomercials. I've seen soccer games and other programming there before, as I surfed by that sat. I've seen FTA audio and video on virtually every DBS sat I can see at one time or another.
But yes, I realize the goal here is probably not FTA.

Those sats at 110w are CPs, so if he has a linear LNB, I'm surprised how he could get so strong a signal and quality... heh.
