Diseqc & 22k switches only work one way??

OK..this really bugs me

I finally got all the cabling set up nicely on the T90 on Sunday. Have 7 duals on
74,79,85,89,93,97,103 and a single on 72

Hooked up all the cables to diseqc switches (4 of them)
74 on port 1
79 on port 2
85 on port 3
72 on port 4 (only need V on this one so its only on one switch)

3rd & 4th diseqc have
89 on port 1
93 on port 2
97 on port 3
103 on port 4

so common sence would be...hook diseqc 1 to 13v on 4x8 multiswitch, 2nd diseqc on 18v, 3rd on 13+22k and 4th+22k and it should work all snifty. All outputs should be able to see all polarities

NOPE..WRONG...NADA....NO signal on nothing
Diseqcs work fine directly

so I quickly (its cold and misting out) hook up 4 LNB's to 2 4x4 multiswitches and hook those outputs to a 2x1 diseqc....works like a champ. So now I have to redo the whole setup

Now why does it work one way and not the other??? Why does it work fine with the diseqc first then the 22k but not the other way around?

now you might think "well its the same amount of switches so it doesnt matter". Well sort of. Its 4 4x4 multiswitches or 4 4x1 diseqcs but the second batch of switches is 1 4x8 multiswitch or a diseqc for each reciever I want hooked ot the setup (max of 4).

I've never used a multiswitch, but I just looked up the specs, and I notice that it says "Tone Blocking (IRD to LNB)" .
Perhaps this means that the multiswitch blocks the diseqC signals when those switches are after the multiswitch???
Just a thought.

hmmm..have to check that out

I tired 2 multiswitches.
A Zimwell 4x8 powered and a 4x4 non powered...neither worked

It seems the 22KH switch blocks the DiSEqC tone. I will have to revise some of the connections here: Multi-LNBF switch and satellite receivers setup

Notice on 1 - 6 we have it correct, but 7 & 8 I am not too sure.

I basically had option 8 but I had a Zimwell switch

even tried option 7

Heck those pictures is what got my memory jogging about setting it up differently

just on an afterthought all 22khz switched must go after the diseqc

I just attempted a simular configuration to this. Mine was:

Card -> Tone Switch -> DiSEqC

Well, I could switch ports on the tone switch well but it seemed all DiSEqC commands were blocked at the tone switch. Very disappointing.

The diseqc control commands are only sent once, as needed. As long as the diseqc switch has power, it will hold it's last switch state. The 22KHz switches, on the other hand, need a continuous tone to stay switched.

In your working arrangement, the diseqc switch is always powered, and it passed power and 22KHz tone (if present) upstream to which ever 4x4 switch it needs to. Everything works.

In the non-working arrangement, the diseqc switches don't get power until selected and that's likely after the diseqc command sequence was sent.

If I recall correctly, in diseqc version 2.0, there is the concept of "committed" and "uncommitted" switches. Uncommitted switches are not always powered (as in your non-working case), so there are additional accommodations the diseqc master (the receiver, usually) must implement for uncommitted switches.

I ended up using 4 4x4 multiswitches and 4 diseqc's (like in the picture that did work)
