Missing Telstar 12

Hi you guys,

I haven't been on line for awhile. My system was working great until two weeks ago. Telstar 12 some how have gone MIA. We had some bad weather here about the two weeks ago so I went outside and re-aligned the dish. It wasn't a big deal I have done this before. This time I could not get a decent signal. I used to get around 80% signal from IRBI (11806 V).
But not anymore. I don't even know if that frq. still active. To make a long story short the rest of the ARC I have no problems with except Telstar 12. For the the life of me I can't figure it out. One more note, There is no obstruction that I can see.

Thanks

Did you use USALS with presets or 1.2 to setup your sats?

I used the 1.2. When ever I use the USALS I always have to tweak the motor. Sometime as much as 1/2 dg.

That is most likely why you are missing the sat. You did not need to "tweak" USALS. Your dish was out of alignment. You most likely were either hitting a fringe of the signal or a sidelobe which you can no longer hit. If you take the system back to 0 and then peak your true south sat. Then using preset USALS start walking to each sat from the center out. See how many you get. Adjust your dish and motor elevation accordingly until your system tracks the belt properly.

Missing Telstar 12

Here is the update on finding Telstar 12. I found it alright but I'm not so sure how I did it. Certainly not the conventional way. All the twisting and lifting didn't do my any good until.....I loosened up the right bolt on the top U-clamp that holds the motor in place. Signal strength on Telstar 12 came back on. The more I loosen the bolt the better the signal got. Go figured. So right now the motor has three secured bolts and one in limbo. What is up with that?

So I went ahead and cheked the rest of birds and ever thing checks out OK. I'm guessing the motor is not completely parallel to the pole. Any ideas how to fix this problem?

Check the mount of the motor where it contacts the pole. It has a small cradle stamped into it. If you do not tighten evenly the cradle will become locked against the pole instead of it settling around the pole.
