Dish Network Question

I apapreciate the great responses to my first post. Now for my 2nd issue:

I have dishnetwork as my satellite provider. I have a Hi Def receiver in the living room for the HDTV.

Upstairs I have one receiver in room 2 and a dual receiver in the 3rd room (for TVs in room 3 and 4).

I want to add a 5th room (basement). Is this possible? My local satellite installer states it will cost about $300 (100 for install, 100 for switch neededm and 100 for a 5th receiver). I called Dishnetwork 2x as I got answers that showed the CSR did not understand my problem. Unlinke my FTA receiver (Fortec Lifetime) none of the Dishnetwork receivers have LNB out. If one of them did I would fish wire to the basement and hook up to receiver and then call dishnetwork and pay the extra $5.

Thank you

If you did that, you would find your channel selection limited by the channel selection of the master receiver. Your "downstream" box would not have any control over the signal polarity, so you'd only be able to access the polarity channels selected by the first stb.

I suspect that your installer is correct in his assesment of the situation.

1) If you have a DP quad lnb ( 4 outputs ) aimed at 110/119 , it can only support 4 receivers ,

2) Unless it's augmented by something like the Dish DPP34 switch, or DPP44 switch which would take 2 of those outputs and make them available to 4 other receivers.

I'm no expert on this, but basically, don't expect full functionality without a dedicated lnb port for every receiver, unless you're going to do some custom switching. It can get pretty complex. Glad I don't need 5 TV's
