Help With Globecast receiver
Hello,
I hope that I am posting in the right forum. I ran into some problems, and I would be grateful for some assitance. I am trying to get Setanta sports on IA5. I found the satellite using a Pansat 2500 receiver. I note that I get good signal and quality using this receiver. I also did a blind scan, and the FTA channels were coming in. When I change to the Globecast receiver, the quality is very very low. I get no lock on the transponders. I am using a linear LNB as recommended.
Any assistance as to why the Globecast receiver is not locking will be appreciated. Thanks very much

you may need to tweak your dish to get the best signal with the globecast receiver also check to make sure you got all connections tight.

The Globecast may be reading low on the scale in comparrison but can you watch TV with it? My BEC receiver will not lock on a reading below 50 and the Fortec will at 20. May be nothing more than a difference in how the receiver displays signal.

I remember reading review of this receiver by Sadoun.
In that review he told that tuner on Globecast receiver is poor, this is why quality shows low. Also there is no blind scan and filly functional motor control on these receivers. I recently got one on eBay, and I can confirm all that said is true. I am able to receive all the channels even with that receiver, and I beleive, you can receive them too, just need to get better dish alignment, and better LNB may help (like KUL2 with 0.4 low noise figure). Bigger dish may help too

No need for second post
I answered in the other thread, you don't have to post them twice .

Thanks for the response. In fact I am using a 1.8m I am also using a DrSat Ku2LS, with a noise figure of 0.5dB. I am going to give it another try and see if it works, but this is very frustrating.
Thanks for your input. I have my suspicions about the receiver myself

I merged the two threads so it might look like there are some redundant posts/answers.

I am not getting a picture at all, because the quality is so low, the receiver is not locking. I get pictures on the Pansat, though. Very strange I think

try peaking your dish and see if signal quality comes up.
