At it again..

Well, after the success last week of getting my system up and going, the friend who came over and helped me get my system working (with Bill's great assistance on here of course) decided to join us in FTAland and make the plunge.. Should be easy to get his system going since we just did mine, right???? Of course the answer is wrong...

Strange strange things are happening....

1st the set up..

Mather PA 15346 LAT 39.9 Lon 80.0 Very clear field of vision. Sadoun 80" with a SG-2100 rotor.. The LNB looks quite a bit different than mind ( its more round than mine and has a scale on it)...

OK, the 1st prob is that the rotor is different than my HH-90... So reading up on it, we decided that the settings are different.. If I am right, I calced the LAT setting on the rotor to be 40 with a dish elevation of about 23-24..

NOTHING...

After hours of playing, we decided to get a signal meter out and find a sat, any sat.... When we got one locked in, we put the receiver back on and nothing.... Well, I suspected it was there so I blind scanned the thing and it found several TPs and channels all with 70-90% signal.. Prob is, NOT ALL of the channels are there... Many are missing.... For instance, On G10, we got MYTV, a ABC station and some feeds all at 80%+ - but nothing else.. On AMC4, there were 3 or 4 stations all strong, but no KUIL..

Is it tracking???... Dunno, Prob should be the experiment for today to move the dish to where a sat should be, and see if we get a signal from the meter...

Now I understand that some of the TP's that are preset in the default are weak, or gone, but not ALL of them.... I'm going to take my receiver over as well, and we have an extra LNB.... From the old C band days, my mind wonders about polarity (acts like a broken polar-rotor) but not sure thats a concern here..

If the rain stops, we'll try some stuff today.. Any ideas????

Did you insure that you have the right type LNBF, ie standard or universal? This could explain not getting all the transponders, particularly if the freqs come up listed wrong. And yes, if you're just blindly aiming at sats, then polarity is an issue. It isn't an issue if letting the motor move to the sats.

Another off topic comment, that motor has both Lat and Elev scales. Make sure you use the right one. See http://eskerridge.com/bj/FC90-sg2100.html
