What problem are you having? I don't have that receiver, but I've looked at that program, and it's a terrible program, but it looks straightforward for what it does do.
If it is like other Fortec programs though, one thing that confused me, is that with my Lifetime and Ultra receivers, Fortec defines going from the receiver to the PC as being an "UPLOAD", which seems backward. So if you are trying to move data to the PC via download, you might try using the upload button.
What are you trying to do, and where do you run into a problem?

Have you heard of SharpC Channel Master program?
You can use Fortec utility just to upload/download channels from/to receiver,
but edit channel names with Channel Master. It can import and export from Fortec "cdf" format.

When you downloaded a program from Fortec site, you had to read an instruction, which cable to use, and that you should turn receiver off before connecting or disconnecting a cable, etc.

THis is the quote:
"Channel Editor / Loader V.4.2 ( April 14, 2006) Click Here to Download Please Note: Downloading software to your receiver voids the manufacturer warranty.
This program can be used to edit your channel list on your PC, and as a software loader. (Intended for use with Windows XP. Female-to-female 9-pin NULL modem cable needed.)"
From download site for Fortec Lifetime Classic NA:
http://www.fortecstar.com/downloads/...roducts=82%2C1
So, it's must be compatible!
Channel Master, no matter, compatible or not, can be used for actual channel editing, like you want to rename "TV19" into "Create".

CM rules!
It allows yo to do almost anything with it
edit channel names
move them around
delete transponders & satellites
and much more
I have to upload everything from my Fortec Classic using the FOrtec loader, then open it in CM

Here is the file from fortec star. You need a null data cable to upload the channels.
Download here: http://www.fortecstar.com/downloads/...roducts=82%2C1
Sorry it's too big for this site I can not attach it
Down to channel data. Browse and save file. click on upload. then edit to change the list then download to receiver.

I have been working with Channel Master last night.
IT'S GREAT!
I like the option where you can move the sat orders by compass location. For me, it makes life a little easier for a newbie and trying to figure out if I am aligned with the right sat vs. transponder and PID.
