Need more assistance

I thought I had solved my problems, but, another one cropped up last night. I was sweeping across the sats and all at once, there was a LONG peroid of time, like 30 seconds.

Well, since I am new to all of this, I didn't think much of it, until I went back to IA5, but, most of the channels were "gone". That's where things have gone haywire. I went to my bucket mounted dish, and fought with it for awhile, tried it in a few different places in the back yard, but, I have never been able to achieve lock on ANY sat since.

The pole seems to be level, and I am checking on the left, right, front and back. The highest signal I got was 26% just for a few seconds. I have tried a factory reset, and have reset the motor 3 times. Still with no luck.

Even when I had IA5 locked, the signal was not really high, like 64% or so. Also, I did not get 144 channels as Lyngsat indicated there should be. On AMC 4, it was the same story, but, there were only 5 channels instead of 44.

I am taking this to indicate that my dish was not peaked good in the first place. What I am not sure of is if this is a line of sight issue with a tree or some other obstruction or a defective installation. When the DirecTv installer put up my new DTV dish, he had a little sight tool that allowed him to look into it, move his head up and down and side to side to "sight" the dish coordinates to insure proper line of sight to the dish. Would be nice if I could use a makeshift device like this to see if a tree or part of my house is the problem.

I just received my package this past Wednesday, and UNFORTUNATELY, I did not see the special satellite meter deal that was available with a system purchase. Having this might actually help me.

Can anyone guide me here and suggest a course of action? I am only using this bucket mount as a temporary tool to assist me in finding the best place as a final mounting place.

Thanks once again.

Put your bucket back as close to your position as you can where you had lock. Set to a sat you had lock on and slowly rotate your bucket until you get signal back. Now peak your dish. First east to west then up and down with dish elevation. You should now be able to take your dish anywhere in your yard without having to alter settings. Sounds like your dish slipped
