Smile i give u information to help me how to install properly (coolsat5000/receiver).

hi,
i got a motorized system (DiSEqC 1.2 Motorized H-H Motor), for dish up 1.2 M 9120cm max-dish). Goto X function, we living in canada. in quebec (418). we have a coolsat 5000 receiver. First step, we need a specific frequency ? However we have with our satellite, a range between 10-12(LNB). We tried to find a quality but it was just around 2%. After, we tried to find some satellites and when we found it with a quality around 66%(Anik 1 ,111,1w) we didn`t have any channels it was a black screen(scrambled channels). All channels were channels which we need to pay .?? is it normal!!?? After, we learnt that we need a specific software application to use our channels. But how to find this software and how to use it???

thank you so much for your help!!!

kelly

First you do not require any "special" software. The software spoke of is illegal and constitutes piracy. Second if you go to www.sadoun.com and on the left side of the page is a link to Technical support. In there you will find a link to motorized tips. Installation instructs are complete and easy to follow.

I don't know if this is true or not (reliablity of material posted on the net comes into question). I came across some information that people located in Canada are allowed to hack scrambled satellite signals since the satellite companies don't have a license to operate there. Anyway, I recommend you ask a lawyer about this before you do something illegal.

what type of program are you trying to receive nothing FTA on f2 at 111.1 even if it was you would need a digicipher unit and the coolsat don't do digicipher.

I'm locking this thread. No matter if you are in Canada or US, hacking talk is not allowed here.

Actually it is the complete opposite. The laws in Canada were vague concerning "grey market" satellite systems like DirecTV and DishNetwork and what you posted above was more or less the "unwritten law" until April 2002. The Supreme Court of Canada ruled that it is now a criminal offense to "decrypt any foreign satellite signal" and the Radio Communications Act was amended accordingly. This had far reaching ramifications. For example it would now be a crime for U.S. residents to watch their DirecTV or DishNetwork system while vacationing in Canada -- even though they are paying subscribers and wouldn't know the first thing about hacking. This means they could not park their RV and set out their portable satellite dish; it means they could not watch DirecTV or DishNetwork while spending the summers at their cottage or cabin in Canada. How far the police would push it is arguable...
