Lightbulb Help with dish installation

I am in Markham,Ontario ,Canada .I was helping a friend intalling a 30" dish
to receive IA5 .The receiver type is Fortec LT NA and the lnbf is Fortec universal . I have a signal meter and I took the coordinates from your installation help site, which gave me Elevation 36.8 Azimuth 205.1 and Pol 17.9
Everything is installed to specs I used a bubble level and the mast is plumb at 90degrees.
For four hours I tried to get the signal - the meter is beeping at full scale but on the receiver there is no signal. The only signal that was received on the receiver was for AMC4 @ 101.0W which is a few degrees away from IA5 @97.0w.
This is not my first time to intall dishes but my first time to try to get IA5.
Can you please help me

Ok I will assume you have the receiver set up properly as to lnbf settings and the such. Should be UNI. If you are hitting 101 simply move 4 degrees to the east and depending on where true south is for you you would either need to raise or lower your dish elevation a bit. You also need to be on an active transponder for that sat. That info can be found at www.lyngsat.com

The coax into the receiver is on the lnb in port? You did remove the meter when testing for a sat? Sometimes the little meter blocks enough signal to get you nothing on the receiver. You are not simply going for pegged out signal are you? Once you have pegged signal you need to back the meter off down to 5 or so and keep peaking. If it pegs again back down again to 5 and continue.

Help with installation

Thank you guys for your answer. What you have said is exactly what I did except for one thing is to remove the sat finder once a signal has been located. The other thing is do I have to reset the receiver to factory settings and load the factory bin ?
Thanks

Try raising the elevation about 2 degrees and move the dish just a bit to the left (when you are behind the dish). IA5 is not as strong in Ontario as AMC 4 so its a bit harder to lock onto. If your signal meter doesn't find it use the receiver's signal meter - make sure you are on an active transponder on IA5.

I'm guessing that your problem is that when you use one of those signal meters on a sat that is relatively near one of the DBS sats (DTV101 in this case), that the signal meter can be overwhelmed by the DBS sat, so if you are chasing the strong signal you'll end up on the 101 sat. You have to listen and watch the meter for a smaller signal east of that 101 sat. Don't expect it to be as strong as that DTV sat. In fact sometimes it shows up as a minimum on my meter when I'm near a strong sat. Watch for small changes in the indication. I've found that looking at the meter is more sensitive than listening to the beep too.

Factory bin? What software are you using if it is not a factory bin? This could be all of your problem.
