Lost Transponders

I have a Samsung 3700 I used to receive FTA Thai channels and would like suggestions on a problem. Until about 3 weeks ago I received 6 channels but suddenly lost 3 channels. I changed the antenna, LNB and changed the receiver to a Fortec ultra but no change. The settings did not change and the receivers work great on other antennas. I get 3 channels great but no matter what I do there's no trace of the others. For some reason I can get TP12090 H 20000 but I lost 11966 H 22000 and 12152 H 20000. Can a tree branch block some transponders? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Transponder 11966 has weakened for some reason. Try tweaking your dish for stronger signal strength or elso upgrading to a bigger dish. See threads in the Asian forum because lots of folks are complaining about losing VTV4 - its on the same transponder.

The new satellite that was launched closed to IA5 (orbit location 99)is causing the problem. So closed frequencies. lots of noise

so far there seems like two cures use a 90 cm dish or larger or fine tune your dish to the east a little.

Thanks for your help. I changed the LNB, antenna, cable and receiver, spent hours searching the sky but still can't get the 2 transponders from Telstar 5. Not even a twitch. Would a LNB with a broader bandwidth help?l

Solution

I purchased a Fortec Star LNBF with a broader bandwidth and now I get all the transponders... Problem solved...

Outstanding! Good to hear you got it resolved and good thinking on your part. Would have not even entered my mind to try that.

Same here... I would have spent hours tweaking the dish -- but then, I get off on that sort of thing...

I must say that I'm skeptical that changing the LNB would fix such a problem with just some transponders. I thought perhaps this must be a really bad brand of LNBF. I googled it, and they actually have a reasonable amount of specs on the thing. Only thing I noticed in the specs, is that the freq stability is listed as +/- 3 MHz (except at "room temperature"... ie who keeps an LNBF inside the house???) Made me wonder if perhaps this LNBF drifted a lot, and the receiver was able to find the other transponders, but perhaps the receiver was locking onto the signals from nearby sats instead of finding the missing ones??? Only thing I can think of.
A bit confused by the description of the replacement LNBF as a "broader bandwidth". I think the original lnbf was a standard 10750. Only thing I can relate to broader bandwidth is a universal lnbf, which would require different LO settings on the receiver, which wasn't mentioned. Makes me wonder if the LO settings was the problem all along?
Anyway, strange that changing the lnbf would fix such a problem. Also wonder if on changing the lnbf, that the polarity was accidently corrected???

I had the same problem - Signal strength was the same but quality went to zero and couldnt lock on the TGN transponder. Bought new received - Viewsat Extreme but didnt help. Now installing the 90 cm Fortec dish, motor and new LNB so hope this works.

the 90 cm dish should help more than anything.I have a 90 cm and no problems on these transponders.
