Question for the 2nd receiver?

Hi all,

If I turn off (standbuy mode) the 1st receiver, there is no signal from the second receiver. Is it the way it works?

Thanks.

Cuong

I don't know if it's true for all receivers, but some receivers work that way.
Three of the 4 big dish receivers that I have used never turn off unless you pull the plug, but of course they don't have pass-throughs. All of my FTA receivers, however turn off completely when you turn them off. I leave my receivers on all the time. The pass thru may or may not remain intact when the receiver is turned off. I'm pretty sure that the pass-thrus on my Fortec receivers no longer function, but that doesn't mean that other reciever's passthrus might.

But even if the pass-thru remains intact, the LNBF needs power, and the first receiver often powers the LNB, and if you turn it off, the LNBF won't be sending any signal. Also, since I think you have a diseqC switch, the first receiver controls that, and the switch needs power too, so even if you have alternate power for the LNBFs, like a big dish, you still may not be able to control the switch. So there are several potential reasons why the second receiver wouldn't work.
