Max distance for diseqc from LNB
Hello all,
How is everyone doing, I havent visited here in ages, I see this place is still live and kickin, 3 questions here,
1- how far can I have the diseqc switch from the LNB? is there a max distance on this?
2- if I have unused ports on the diseqc switch must they have terminators on them?
3- Will we ever see an HH motor that will accept 2 LNB inputs to allow to recievers in seperate locations control a motor? what are my alternatives for this?
Thanks in advance....

distance shouldn't matter if you are using a motor would recommend installing the switch between lnb and motor.yes unused ports should be terminated.don't know on the motor but it would be a nice option.

Frying diseqc switches ??? HELP PLEASE
Okay finally got around this, I have setup 2 4/1 switches, one switch has 2 inputs from the lnb then going to the motor then reciever and the other switch feding a second reciever, when I conencted the switch I did have the LNB cable to rec disconnected and the reciever off from the back but not totally disconnected from the outlet, I then conencted the switch, connected the lnb cable into the reciever and powered deverything on, went into the antena and setup the settings, seems to see the switch fine for a bit then I lose all signal, I smelled the switch (3 of them now) and they smell funny, like they are burned up. I am able to move the motor okay but no siganl on any ports . I am using a DMS International brand switches, could it be the residual power of the motor burning these up? the switch does not say power passing anywhere on it..

I've had a new 4-1 switch burn up for no reason. It was a "Chiea" or something like that, it had less loss on it's specs so that's why I tried it.
Replaced with a Pansat 4-1 (with no changes to anything...) and it's been working fine.
I simply think the Quality Control on these things are lousy. For 10 bux, what can you really expect?
I did hear good things about DMS brand. Have not used them, but my suggestion would be just try another.

From my experience with these switches, Distance does matter. I notice some receivers could not operat switches more than 75' away.
There are very bad switches out there. Ther best I used with no problems is Lava brand.

I have had 100% failure from the 4x switches I have got from Sadoun's. I currently buy from a competitor for $5.00 each with 100% success rate. The last one I got from Sadoun had port 1 no op out of the box. Port 2 fell off about a week later and limping along till my others arrive port 3 and 4 are acting up now. In fact I can set the DiSEqC to off in the receiver and port 4 shows signal equal to setting for port 4.
In all fairness the switch I got before this one lasted about 6 mos and was between the motor and receiver.
As to 2 receivers operating the motor why not simply split the line coming from the motor? Both receivers will not be driving the motor at the same time no matter how you set it up so using different lnbf ports is really irrelevant unless one is circular and one is linear. But on that note I do not know of any DTV or DN receivers that run a motor.
