I have no hair left

I just took down my dish network dish and replaced it with a 31” fortec a hh120 and a invacom quad lnb, hooked up to a neusat 6000 factory software. I mounted the dish on the existing pole and that is plumb and level and fallowed all the directions to a tee. Now I cant get a level over 39 or signal over 29 I tried usals to locate different satellites and tried adjusting tried dish and motor on the pole, I’ve tried adjusting the dish at the elevation angle I believe I’ve tried everything.

My location is Chicago 87.8w 41.6n when I look at the evel/declina table in the motor manual it your latitude 41 elevation 49 dec 6.4 dish bracket 23.6. so my first question is, do I set the motor at 41 or 49 next I have all 4 lnb lines hooked up to a 4 to 1 switch (pansat) and have the diseq set to auto in the receiver is this ok? The lnb is not skewed at all. Also I have the the lnb set to standard at 11250 also my receiver about 75 feet away from the dish. I think that’s about every thing so how come I can just about swing my dish around like a lasso with out ever getting a good week signal?

1. Eliminate the switch. Use 1 cable from receiver to LNBF (thru motor, but see below try without it)
2. Is it possible to not use the motor, try to set your dish fixed?

Reason I say that, it's easier to locate 1 satellite, get the feel how the aiming works, how the software works in the receiver.

Use AMC3 to line up your fixed dish, it would be a good one, lots of PBS type stations with strong signals.

These things are very touchy for a signal. 1/8" movment in the dish will lose the signal... i'm kinda tired right now to attempt to decipher your numbers, maybe someone else can pipe in on your calcucations...

Good luck.

Smile

Use 10750 Mhz for the linear side of your Invacom, 11250 Mhz for the circular side. Actually, it's a drag having to get haircuts all the time. Ask Iceberg, he saves so much money on haircuts he can buy an antenna every couple months.

for starters point dish at 183 degrees on your compass this is your true south.then set your motor to 42 on lat scale of motor.set your dish scale at 23.5 degrees this is the starting point.now set your receiver to standard lnb 10750 lnb power on. positioner to usuals and move to amc 3 tp freq 11716 sr freq 4859.disconnect switch at this time and run cable from motor to L port on your lnb run another cable from motor to receiver. reference the motor to 0 then using usuals move to amc 3 slowly move dish east and west a 1/16" at a time on the pole remember to aloud 5 seconds for receiver to see the change. mark your bracket and pole so you can return to the starting point. change elevation by a 1/2 degree up or down and try east to west again remember slow movement. continue doing this to you get a signal.

I am suggesting a setup on the ground next to a tv until you get a feel for aiming.

That's what I ended up doing. Brought my dish down to my deck on a 3 foot tripod , and learned to use the receiver/motor combination confidentally . Then back to the roof with it.
