Question Question about Universal Mount...

Sorry if this sounds like a total noob question; but I was wondering how to use the anchors that came with the Universal mount. Picture of one is here...

I've put up a couple dishes before, but I've never seen anchors like these. Would I drill a hole exactly the size for these to fit in? If I was going to go into a stud (for the base) would I want to use a lag bolt instead or would these do the trick?

thx!

I would use the lag bolts instead of the one's that come with the mount.

The ones you show in the picture are drop in anchors for concrete.
Reinhold.

¿really? those are the one that shipped with the universal mount from Sadoun. the picture is on their website...

I was planning on using lags for the base (into the stud, per Rainman's sugestion) and those to go into the wall (siding over ply; I believe) for the upper arms.

Should I get some regular 'molly' type bolts - the butterfly type instead? I already have to go to HomeDepot; one of the nuts was missing from the kit.
thx!

The problem using a toggle bolt (butterfly) is you need to drill a big hole to get the thing initially thru the wall.

I guess I'd need to see a picture of where you think you are going to mount this to really make a recommendation.

If it's where I think it's going, I would use a lag screw for the siding mount conneciton also.
Especially if it's real plywood, it'll grab quite well.
Predrill with a 1/8" or so bit. It would be great if all the mounts hit a stud.
