Easy Adjustments

I have a 36" Ku dish affixed to a tree on my property. Adjustments are made at ground level. Here is a tip: if you want to adjust but not drag all your equipment outside each time try this: Take the TV (if it's small enough) and place it on some boxes or books at window level and face the TV outside. Set your parameters on the receiver and the go outside and start adjusting that dish to peak the signal level in. Of course this only works if your dish is ground based and you can see the window from where you are adjusting it. I have done this several times and it is really covenient.

Or if you do not want to deal with so many dish adjustments, Do Not install your dish on a tree.

Ok Bill has one on a tree and says if you cut the tree top off the tree will no longer grow up only out. He posted pics here. You may have also seen his counterweight solution.

He is really into using trees for everything On a serious note I guess mounting on a tree eliminates rain fade. All the movement from the wind in a storm would simply blow it out of adjustment way before the rain caused fade

Point well taken but my Dish is mounted very close to the base of a large tree. Even if there were 80 mph winds, the trunk would not sway as it is really thick and also motion is decreased the lower you go on the tree. I do not have the dish mounted on a small willow tree!
