Question Iranian channels

In the list of channels mentions that all iranian channels are in 97W IA5 satellite. I am getting signal level of about 80 on IA5 97W but when I scan the satellite I only get 11 channels all Arabic. No Iranian.
Am I missing something?
I just purchased a FortecStar lifetime classic.

I wouldn't know an Iranian channel from a Chinese channel, so I have no idea of what is really available on that sat, even though I've scanned in dozens of channels. But if you only got 11 channels on the whole satellite, something is wrong.
When you said that you "scan the satellite", what do you mean, are you doing the satellite scan, a power scan or a transponder scan or what? Assuming, from your using the word satellite that you did do a satellite scan, then for you to scan in a channels, the active transponders on that sat have to already be in the transponder list on your receiver, whereas, if you do a power scan, it will find the transponders then scan them for channels. You might just try the power scan and see what you get.
Or, look at Lyngsat and find the specific channels you are looking for, and go do a transponder scan on just those transponders, assuming that they are in your receiver's memory, and if they aren't in there already, you can edit the transponder list to put them in.
However, relative to the question about exactly what is there, I suggest that you get into the new finds section of this forum. There is a guy there who does a nearly daily inventory of all the channels on that satellite, and he has a web page where he lists all the channels. You'd probably find more accurate info there than on Lyngsat, because the channels on that sat are changing all the time.

Make sure the LNBF type settings are correct in the receiver to match the LNBF you are using on your dish.

If it looks correct, then verify that you have a signal LOCK on most of the transponders for IA5.

Good luck.

I don't speak Farsi, but I know I'm getting a bunch of Iranian channels. If lyngsat.com doesn't help, try this list of Farsi channels, all on IA5:

ftalist.com/farsi.htm

I've seen Persian movies, music videos and news broadcasts; again, don't understand a word, but...

Keep at it!

Thanks. apparently it was my LNB type. I had to change it to 10750 and now I get 116 channels.
I may have to do some fine tuning of the dish but it is good for now.
