Too many Stickys
I know that this is up to the owners/moderators, and none of our business, however these forums have become more and more annoying because of the darn "Sticky" messages. On every forum category I visit here, there are so many stickys that if fills up my entire screen, so I can't see what if any new posts have been made without scrolling down, because even the first real thread doesn't appear on the first page when the page loads up.
I know that it isn't a tremendous inconvenience to make a few more mouse strokes and scroll, but I really think that there should be some effort to make a forum easy to use. If nothing else, some of these sticky messages could be combined into a single thread, rather than having multiple messages. Actually, all of the stickys could be combined into two stickys, a "READ FIRST" sticky, and a "FAQ" sticky, and maybe a "Sadoun annoucements" sticky, but when you have 6 and 7 stickys before you get to the first real message, then this is crazy.
The way I see it, Sticky messages are intended for someone to read the first time they come to a forum category, and after that I doubt that most people even read the titles of the Stickys, so they don't serve any purpose other than to annoy people.
Just my opinion. Again, it's up to Sadoun and the mods.

Hmmm. Interesting rant, Bill. I have never been bothered by the stickies. When I log on I just hit "New Posts" and read the latest dirt. I never even go to the individual forum categories. Most forums that I've been to always have a few stickies in every category. Its never bothered me, but maybe that's just me...

Well, I must admit that I never noticed that "New Posts" button. I'll have to try that. I usually click on each sub forum and look for new posts that way, but each of those fills my screen with stickys.
Anyway, thanks for the "New Posts" suggestion. That will probably save time.

Bill, i just looked at the forums and stickies. I find that the stickies are very popular just by looking at how many times they have been viewed. So there is some value to it.
Less viewed stickes will be demotted to a regular post with time.

At least after my first visit of the day, assuming that I check each sub forum first, to make sure things don't get sent too far down the list.
Thanks.

Sadoun is spamming it's own forum.

But they show up in the "New Posts". A couple days ago, there were 3 pages worth of those things before I could find my first "real" post, then 2 pages worth, then 1 page worth today I think.
When I commented on the excessive stickeys, you suggested that we should be using the "New Posts" button instead of going to each sub forum, and I've been doing that, but now the New Posts is getting hard to use to.
It's easy to deal with, and it's nice to have a place in the forum where the ebay listings are announced, but it's just bit annoying, like dealing with SPAM.
I'm just in a grumpy mood I guess.

I hear you.
We will add a feature on the UserCP that allows you to exclude certain forums from view. That way any messages in the excluded forum(s) will not appear on your "New Posts" or any other view.
That should do it and releave you from having to scroll down to hunt for member messages.
