Dish too low to the ground???

I just purchased and installed a 31" Fortec dish and receiver with the HH-90 motor yesterday. I mounted it onto my concrete deck with the mount that came with the package, two legs and mast all connected. I'm in San Antonio, TX and my settings are 29.5-motor, 40.1-dish elevation and 174 for azimuth. I couldn't get the motor to move initially and finally solved that problem because I had too long of a run from the lnb to the receiver--about 75-80 feet. I shortened it to 45 feet and the motor finally started to move. Anyway, I'm scanning and the screen continues to have a little bar that's red and keeps saying that it is unlocked. I'm confused and don't know what to do. Should I opt for a tripod and try to elevate the satellite an extra five feet into the air?

Unlocked means that you're not pointing to the right Satellite. Installing a motor is not as easy as setting motor and dish degrees. You need first to find your true south satellite and point to it. If you think that dish is very low, look to see if something in front of the dish would block the signal. If all clear, then you should be fine.

THX, pictureon and rainman. This has definitely turned into an adventure. Major breaking news though----After five hours yesterday of tring to find a signal I had a major breakthrough. I finally got my signal. It was around 66-70% for my closest satellite IA5. Now onto some fine tuning on the outer perimeters. I was also able to get signals from other satellites but the signal was not as strong. I'm in San Antonio, TX. Do I have access to some decent sat's here?
