Hey,

I've been reading alot of past posts to get ready for any potential problems we may encounter trying to install this thing ourselves.

I have a few general questions

1. I read it's not recommended to install on the roof, why???

2. Can I use the existing wire from the cablevision company and attach a RG6 cable with a cable connecter to the dish I currently do not subscribe to any cable services.

3. If not could I use about 200 ft of RG6 cable (actually it will be 100ft connected to 100ft) Would that make the reception bad since it's a long cord?

I think it's going to be raining here next week so I may not be able to start until then, any advise is accepted

most don't like to install on roof do to the up and down the ladder when having a problem. also the mount could cause a leak in the roof.
I would use rg6 for 100 feet installs or less.
but since you said you were going 200' i would recommend rg11 and a inline amp.
