M-1 Motorized Lassic Blind Search system

OOOPS Its a classic blind search system not a lassic. I'm a newbie. I bought the M-1 motorized classic system. System includes Fortec star lifetime classic na satellite receiver, stab HH90 motor, 31"fs80pdish and the universal 0.4db Single Ku Lnbf. I live in Stockton ca, 95206. My Latitude 37.9, Longitude 121.2, dish elevation 39, azimuth is 180 -15= 165 i think, motor elevation 39.7. Are my settings correct? I was unable to find any birds at first but then I was able to find IA5 Ku (97w) IA6 (93w) and AMC4 (101.0w). I found the channels manually. What am i doing wrong that my system is not automatically finding the satellites? I've been working on this for day and have had no more success. I have been searching for SatMex5 or any others i can find. Can anyone tell if they are getting channels Almavision and Televida abundante on SATMEX5 and if my system will be able to get these channels.
Thank You,

Any of the listings at lyngsat.com that are 5 digit and clear you should be able to receive. As long as you can see the sat. If I remember correctly Almavision is on C band. You have Ku. If you can see 30 degrees there is a group of Spanish language channels on it. More on 58 and 61, in fact they are scattered across the sky Telemundo is on K5 at 79. It is the only clear Telemundo channel out there to my knowledge. Univision, Telefuturo and Teleformula are on G10 at 123.

My gf does not speak English so I kinda have an intimate knowledge of what channels are out there and where Matter of fact it was the reason I got started into FTA. With a Ku dish and assuming you can see what I see you should be able to get about 50 or so channels in Spanish.

Motor elevation should match your latitude. Either you typoed or your motor is a bit high. You should be able to lock 121 at your location as your south sat. Can't view any of the channels but you can lock it.

If you ever get a chance to put in a big dish for C band S2 at 113 is loaded with Spanish language channels. Can not see it here in Indiana. As far as I know only Ca can see it. Hope that helps a bit

Steve

Thank you for the reply, I did make a typo. My motor elevation does match my latitude. I have been trying to set IA5(97W) as my true sat, but according to you my true south sat is at (121.1 w) echostar 9? So, with the motor set at zero and the receiver on ? i should move east or west to look for (121.1W) echostar 9? is this right? Hope what i wrote makes sense.

Should not have to move at all. If your dish is pointed at true south for you and the settings you listed are accurate you should have signal lock. Work with rotating the dish on the mast east to west a bit at a time along with dish elevation until you find it. Echo birds are strong. You should get a really strong signal strength BUT no channels.

Have you set up USALS? I am not familiar with your receiver but assume it is equipped. Once you have your true south lined up USALS will move the dish to the correct location for the other sats. You will only need to make minor adjustments to track the arc properly.

I have been at it again. I have checked the settings once again. The motor is set at 37 degrees, dish elevation is at 37 and according to my compass my azimuth is 180-15= 165. I entered my latitude and and longitude in the USALS of the receiver. I'm looking for echostar 121.0w since its the closest satellite but get no signal at all. My receiver is set to look for echostar but I still get no signal.

Are you looking for a tp listed on lyngsat.com? I know the first one on the list is a live one. It is a vertical. Take your receiver and a small tv outside near the dish. Makes life so much easier. If you can not hit anything and you are confident you are close to your true south setting try raising your dish elevation a degree. Still nothing try another degree. I would go maybe as much as 5 degrees before I backed out and started going down a degree at a time.

Everytime you raise the dish elevation slowly and I mean very slowly rotate the dish east to west on the mast. Once you get a lock you can adjust accordingly for correct arc tracking. You do have your LNB set for UNI in the settings correct? The input for the coax is pointed straight down towards the ground? The LNB is seated as far from the dish as it will go?

I have my LNB set for UNI in the settings. The coax input is pointed straight down towards the ground and the LNB is seated where the set up manual instructed me to. I will try your suggestions as soon as the weather permits. Its raining here today.
