Famous123 is on a distinguished road
New to FTA need help???

Hi, I just bought this new system that I am trying to set up. I am trying to focus on IA5- 97W using: T90 dish, transponder model = Z20L, freq = 11.7~12.2, 0.6db. my location is 38.739614 N, 90.337834 W. I already have the dish skew anticlockwise 8.2*. I have a Fortec Star Lifetime Classic receiver. I tried setting this system up the first night I received it and all I got was some Chinesse channel that I believe are not on IA5, these channels were CCTV-4, CCTV-9 etc. I had the dish initially set on the ground and the transponder is dead smack in the center of the focus rail. I don't have the transponder skewed since the dish is already skewed.
I am also not sure about the settings on the Fortec antenna set up menu. Should I leave the LNB as universal or should I change the frequency to 11700. also what symbol rate should I use if I modify these settings. I also have another transponder I would like to use as soon as I purchase a switch. this transponder is a Spitfire Standard KU LNBF RF:11.70/12.20, 0.5db. anyone know if this is gonna work or whether it is better than what I am currently trying to use. Anyway, all I would like right now is to be able to receive IA5. I already have my dish angled 44.6* and the supporting arm is perpendilar to the ground. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

if you were getting cctv 4 and 9 you need to move the dish west by 2 degrees cause those channels are on g3. ia5 is the next sat to the west.

First line of thought is the lower the noise level the better the lnb so your .5 should in theory be a better lnb than the .6. Next is this a fixed dish? Really though like rainman states you sound pretty close to making it all come together. Check www.lyngsat.com for a listing of available channels and correct tp settings for IA5. It will be then that you know what you have hit or not hit.
