Fortec, DiSeqC and the Big Dish

Hello all. I currently have a FTA dish (motorized) run through port 3 on my DiSeqC. I run the C band LNB through port 1 and the Ku LNB through port 2 from my big dish. Have no problems with ports 1 or 3 BUT I am catching C band TP with designation as Ku (5 digit) when attempting a power scan utilizing port 2 if it recognizes a signal at all.

I had this same problem when using a different DiSeqC switch once I got to 3 ports in use. It totally ignored port 3. At that point in time port 3 was tied to a stationary Ku dish for FTA. The current switch is from Sadoun just for the record. With the old switch ports 1 and 2 were off the big dish and hooked up and in use first. Then tried to add the small FTA dish with 0 as signal. Problem continued when the small dish went motorized. That is when I tried changing the switch.

With this switch I hooked up port 3 first then 1 and finally 2. I am now having problems with signal from 2. When I do have signal it scans and gives me 5 digit TP's but when scanned are actually C band tp's as listed by Lyngsat.

Just for the record I can put my BEC box in place of the Fortec and tie the Ku from the big dish direct and have great signal. When I tried to tie the Ku direct on the Fortec same signal problems. Is this something with Fortec? Will it only accept 1 Ku linear LNB? Have I missed something? A local sat dealer thinks that perhaps the motor is burning out the switches and I may need a heavier switch but since I had this same basic problem prior to motor I kinda doubt that is where the problem lies.

Problem was identical with the BEC receiver with the exception of when I hooked direct to the receiver.

TIA

Steve

Will try but think I did earlier Have tried so many things I do not remember Really am liking that old BEC box more and more. Just lacks blind search and has a cheesy OSD. Crashed a bit ... Ok maybe I will keep the Fortec

Did you get the 90cm to fix the slaving issue that you and elgemcdlf are both seeming to have with your 4dtv recivers or is it for a different setup (for use on a different TV)?

For the record I am not really slaving I split my line prior to the receivers. Send the C and Ku from the big dish into a DiSeqC along with the feed from the small dish. The other C and Ku lines from the split feed the 4DTV box. The lines coming in from the big dish have inline amps on them prior to the split but really need moved outside near the dish. The outputs from both receivers along with my OTA HD receiver and a DVD run into an AV switch box that is used for obviously switching back and forth.

The coax from the antenna is split also with one feed running to the receiver and the other just running straight into the coax input on the tv. The output from the av switch runs into the av input of a VCR and from there out to the input of a second VCR from which the output runs into the AV side of the TV.

Componet cables are used where possible and soon (when I find the darn things. I know they are here somewhere ) the video line of the av cables will be swapped for S-Video.

Funny part is I don't even watch that much tv. I just enjoy playing with the toys Next on my list is the HD antenna sold here and a HDD200 for the 4DTV receiver. Now if I could just find the remote I could show you how it all works
