Dish alignment

100cm dish with center mount LNB
Sunny (Turkish) receiver
located in Iraq
35.4542 N, 44.3417 E
The motor came with the dish and is linear in motion (strokes in and out).

We had a severe storm last week that literaly ripped dishes off of the metal frames and roofs off of buildings. Thankfully my system was mounted to a heavy oak pallet with 500 pounds of sand bags on the pallet. The floor mount was bolted to the pallet which decided to break.

I temporarily remounted my dish and was able to get HotBird at 13 degrees. I then mounted a 1.5 inch pipe that is perfectly level and remounted my dish. I have not been able to get signal again.

Any assistance to get signal back will be greatly appreciated. I have a calibrated inclinometer and a good compass. The offset should be correct since it was set before.

Thanks,
Richard

move dish to highest point aim dish at your true south then move motor east or west to your true south sat adjust up and down to get best signal.
if receiver is already programed you should set it on your south sat and rotate dish and mount on pole to get lock.

more on pointing

I was able to get the dish to receive HotBird. I was previously able to get NileSat and ArabSat. My signal strength only around 76 on one line and about the same on the other. I do not have a true south satellite so I will extend the rotator as far as it will go and point to to true south and move from there. I will also make marks so that I can return the dish to its current position if this doesn't work.

Thanks,
Richard

If its close to your longitude it isn't true south, if its exactly on your longitude then it is true south, maybe that is what he meant?
