Adding aditional receiver

I am seriously considering buying a second receiver for a second location.
I was looking at the fortec star FSIR 5400 NA IRDETO.Would this be compatable with the fortec star lifetime ultra. What is the smartcard for,and how would I transfer information from my lifetime ultra to the FSIR 5400.I am thinking about having control from two locations(not at the same time ofcourse).I was using an infra red remote exstander which worked, but the reception is better using RCA cable or digital cable, thats why I am willing to spend the additional money.
Does anybody have any suggestions or ideas. Please let me know so I can make an informed decision.
Thanks Reinhold

Hi

The 5400 and the ULTRA are not software compatible. So you will not be able to transfer any channel data from one to another.

The built-in IRDETO smartcard reader is available if an encrypted channel becomes available that requires subscription. However, you will get all the FTA channels with this receiver.

If you don't have dual outpt LNBF, I suggest your get one to allow independent viewing of channels using the two receivers.

Thank you for your reply.
I am not so much interested in viewing different programs from two locations as controlling the motor from two locations naturally watching only from one location at a time.
The receiver has a passthrue, can this be utelized to feed another receiver independently?
As far as compatability:I guess this means the other receiver will have to be programmed indedendently?
Thanks again for your reply. As you see,I have a lot of questions,
Reinhold

After some consideration,I decided to go with a second lifetime ultra. It seems to be a good receiver and it is easier to transfer information via the serial port. But thanks again for your input.
Reinhold.
