Receiving G4R with 18" dish

Hello All, :mozilla_cool:

I'm currently using my direct tv dish( 18" ),with the circular lnb, to receive the radio stations on Bell Expressvue. I want to get the programming off the Galaxy 4R sat. Can I still use the direct tv dish and circular lnb?Or do I need a linear (lnbf),and a bigger dish, for this sat? :mozilla_laughing:

Thanx in advance,Pioneer

I suspect you will need at least a 30" dish to get signal from G4R; you will need a linear LNB for sure.

Hey bobkat,

Thanks for your quick response. #-o OK,thats what I figured. I am also using a 36"(90mm) dish to receive the G10R sat. Can I use the same dish, to get the G4R sat, without moving the dish?..I've seen those lnb holders for use with holding an additional lnb close to the main lnb.Any ideas?

Thanx again,PIONEER :mozilla_cool:

Hello Pioneer,
No, can't use the same dish. they are too far apart. motor or a second dish (and reciever) are your best bet. This is how a dish garden starts :mozilla_tongue:

Hello Kevision,

Well that stinks :mozilla_cry:. I figured that G4R is at 99 degrees W,and G10R is at 123 w, that they are not that far off from each other. O well,I'll try to figure something out. :mozilla_frown: Thanks Kevision for your response.

Pioneer:

I wish it was so easy...

99w to 123w is a "mile apart" in setting up a dish.

You really need a motor and 30" dish or larger to have some fun in this hobby.

Post back how you make out once you get things resolved. It's really nice to hear the sucess stories.

Hey guys :mozilla_cool:

I hear you on the wives giving the husbands the boot because of the dish. Of course they don't mind watching it after you have it set up. :mozilla_laughing: Then they love you.LOL! I will get another dish when i put some green together. Then I can start my own Antenna farm.Actually I already have antennas for my VHF radio,CB, UHF high def tv antenna, 36"dish for the G10R sat, and the 18" dish for Expressvue. So I guess I already have an antenna farm. :mozilla_laughing: Maybe I will just do some repointing of the 36" dish, and see what we can suck in. Thanx again guys.I knew it was a long shot using the same dish for both sats, I was just hoping someone knew something I didn't,and would surprise me. :mozilla_tongue:

THANX, PIONEER :mozilla_cool:
