OK guys, I had another
installer recommended to me (All Systems Audio & Video) and the results were the usual pathetic explanation/excuses. He called me and I told him that I wanted my 90cm dish and
STAB HH-100 motor aligned to pick up multiple satellites and he said, and I quote, "It can't be done". He said he's never seen it done by anyone. I asked if he could align the dish to pick up a single satellite and he said yes he could but he could not pick up a second satellite "even if it was right next to it and had a strong signal". He went on to say that I'd never pick up anything (other than 110 and 119) with just a 3-foot dish. He said that if I was in the middle of the country, then yes, I could pick up other sats but no way from Philadelphia with just a 3-foot dish. Everything would be snowy he says. I told him that I had previously had an 18" dish on my roof and I was getting 3 sats with that. He didn't believe me and said he'd "have to see it myself". I also have a friend in Canada, right on the Vermont border, who set up my receiver for me (some months ago) using the same 18" dish which he sent to me, and he was picking up 4 satellites from his location with the 18" dish. They were Echo 3, Nimiq 1, Echo 7, Echo 8.6 .
So....according to Mark, the latest installer I've tried, all the people I see posting on various satellite tv forums, people on the east coast who have the same equipment as I do and are receiving multiple satellites......well, they must all be liars. And, the companies that sell dish motors, and the companies that sell dishes to customers on the east coast, I guess they must all be scam artists, because, according to Mark they're selling people equipment for something that "can't be done".
I'm begging my friend in Canada to fly down and do my install. He says that where he lives you can go to the local Radio Shack and they have someone on staff who can do the motor alignment and that there are at least 3 other installers in his neighborhood. Maybe I should move to Canada because there is not a soul in Philadelphia who can align my dish. What now?
