quality always 0 never more --invacom 0.3 lifetime 90cmdish

No matter how hard I try, the quality is always “0”, never ever seen any other number. Gurus help!!!
BTW, I have done plenty of search here but couldn’t get the problem solved, so I start this new thread see if I can get any luck.

What I want:
FTAs on Intelsat Americas 5(97W)

What I have:
Receiver: Fortec Lifetime Ultra
Dish: Fortec Star 36" FC90U (90cm) Satellite Dish
LNB: Invacom 0.3db SNH-031
And a SF95 signal meter

Where am I:
Mount Prospect, IL 60056 (20 miles northwest of Chicago)

What I did:
Find out my location:
“ Zip Code: 60056 PO Name: Mount Prospect (IL)
Population (1990): 54459
Location: 42.062392 N, 87.937667 W”

then calculate:
Evevation 40.6
Azimnth 193.4
Magnetic deviation fator is +3, so compass reading should be 196.4
LNBF +9.9

Dish and LNB are setup and aim to the bird as far as I can tell.

By search forums here, I setup the LNB as

UNIVERSAL1
L.O. Freq: 9750/10600
22KHz: -- (It should be on, but “- -“ is the default and I can not change it!

What I see:
Strength is between 50 to 60, but the quality is always ZERO, never ever seen any more of it, it doesn’t matter which TP I use(tried all available one by one), I also hold the dish and had it moved up and down little by little slowly, but IT NEVER CHANGES.
I also tried to aim the dish to some other birds, all the same. The “o” of the quality level really pissed me off.

The only thing I can tell that I haven’t tried: I am using a regular RG59 TV cable instead of RG6 which is suggested, but the cable is only 20 feet long, does it really matter?

Thanks in advance for any reply

hi
I am receiving T-5 progrming on winnegard 76 with standard lnbf and
Pansat 3500 receiver.Few months ago I got Invacom (same model)
hoping to improve signal strength. No luck at all.Simply put by replacing
standard lnbf with Invacom and changing settings in receiver's menu
(standard to universal) brings the quality level down to 0.Going back
to standard lnbf restores the signal -75-80%.I tried other set ups ,winnegard 1 M with Stab hh-120 ,new cables ,connectors nothing worked. All I can suggest is try
standard lnbf or get replacement .Invacoms are covered by 3 years
warranty.

Is your RG-59 going to "IF IN" (and not "antenna in") on the back of the Ultra receiver?

have you double checked that the pole is level on both sides and that you have set your lnb skew right?

Thanks for all replies.

A. When I order my system, Sadoun was run out of Invacom 0.3dbs. After 2 weeks of waiting, I canceled the invacom and got a same model from Ebay.
After pawel indicated that it could be the lnbf's problem, I am thinking of trying another LNBF....
Questions:
1. I have an old dish500 small dish(left over by ex-owner fo the house) with a twin head lnbf, can I use this LNB on my 90cm fortec/Fortec ultra lifetime to receive T5? What kind of setting I should follow if I use that?
2. How can I test a LNBF itself, (how can I tell it is a bad one or good one?)

B. rg59 is conntected right to the receiver

C. The pole is setup right as far as i can tell ( i do have level tools to ensure this part)

D. lnbf has been srewed right (caculated from the software that provided by Sadoun website)

HI everyone
Last sunday I put my Invacom to the test again. Without moving the
dish I simply replaced working lnbf with Invacom ,checked all connections,
cables, settings in receiver's menu but the outcome was still the same-
no signal.I did it few times ,switching between those two lnbfs just to make
sure that I have a faulty unit .It looks like replacement should be on the
way any time soon.
