Setting the correct elevation

I have a quick question. When someone says set the dish angle at 38 degrees, where should I put the altimeter to get the 38 degree reading?

For example, does the altimeter get placed on the bar that holds the LNBF or do I put the altimeter paralell with the curvature of the dish?

Thanks for your help.

the dish should have those demarcated somewhere on the back. If none are available, you'd be measuring from the center of the parabola or, as mentioned, paralell with the curvature of the dish.

Someone also told me that I put the angle finder on the arm and subtract 22 degrees. Is this accurate?

im not sure. i think it would depend alot on the dish. there is no standard for LNB arm placement to my knowledge.

I bought the standard Fortec Star 90 cm dish from Sadoun. Does anyone know if that model has an offset of 22 degrees?

Sahong

There is an indentation on the left hand side of hte LNBF feedarm that is just below the elevation scale. That will help you with the dish elevation.

Also I may add that offset is not important when aiming the dish. Just use elevation scale on it.
