22K switch. Not working for me.

Hi,
I know we discussed this before but I just had a chance to try it one more time. Today A customer had dishnetwork system installed using the house cable wire. The customer just moved and had samsung system with 32" dish and samsung single standard lnbf(10750)that he wanted to install. Since we discussed that before and I know it should work, I told the customer that I can use the same wire that dishnetwork dish is using by installing a 22k switch.
Now I made sure that the receiver has 22k switch control and I started installing the dish. Connected the FTA dish to 22 side and dishnetwork to 0 side. Connected the receiver out to the FTA receiver and ran a loop to dishnetwork receiver. dishnetwork receiver got signal and picture came up. FTA receiver, nothing. 22k control on, no difference if you switch the lnb power to on or off the signal still 0. Level is also 0. Connected the fta without the 22k switch and I had signal. I thought It might be the receiver that cannot control the switch so I grabbed the Lifetime ultra I had in my truck and tried that one. Same thing. No level and no quality. Changed the lnb to different brand (pansat Standard 10750) still the same (I also changed the switch) I know in theory that this setup should work, but it did not. So I endup putting everything back as the customer did not want to run outside wiring.

Went back home and connected the 22k to my receiver. Switch 22k to on and I HAD SIGNAL on fta receiver. After checking for hours, I found out that I had signal at home because I had dual lnb and second receiver connected. The lnb was getting its power from the second receiver. When I turned the second receiver off, I lost signal on the receiver connected to the switch . Basically The receiver could not power both the switch and the lnb. The lnb was not getting any power.

What could be wrong. Everybody is saying that this setup should work, but it's not working with me.
Any Idea? Please comment on this. Thank you

You might have a defective switch not passing the power to the 22KHz side. Try connecting the FTA lnbf to the 0 side and see if power is passing to the LNBF that way.

Thank you Admin.
OK I did that. Connected the FTA to the 0 port. With 22k off on the receiver, signal is fine. When I turn the 22k control on I lose most of it and most channels do not show. What does that mean?

You might have a bad switch. Make sure when you connect / disconnect the switch to the coaxial, you switch the power OFF to your receiver. This is really essential to protect the switch. Otherwise any spark in voltage to the switch will burn it.
