newbie in Houston

Hello all and thanks in advance- I am about to throw in the towel.

This is what i have:
Twinhan USB 1vision DTV
stab hh90
31" dish
universal 0.4db single kulnbf

I have installed the program and it recognizes the reciever.
Settings:
Dish1
Dish type: fixed ( I have also tried diseqc)
sat Galaxy 3c
setup1
TP1
freq 3720
symbol rate 2500
polor: horizontal

On the LNB-switch:
LNB Setup 1:
power-on
type- universal
22khz-disable
toneburst-disable
databurst- disable
diseqc:LNBA

Ok with h that said, if I do not connect the coaxial cable I always get strenght 8% and 32%. If i connect the coax to the lnb no matter what i do I get a signal strength of 40% (even if the dish is pointed at the opposite side.)

My zipcode: 77030
I have calculated the following:
Lattitude: 29.7
P value 55.4 so elevation = 40.1

My true south sat is galaxy 3c.

other things i have tried is bypassing the hh motor with the lnb coaxial cable connected directly to the reciever.

When I connect the signal meter, the program crashes so I have not used it very much.

I am fairly sure the sattelite hardware is correct- mast is plumb, pointing to the south, trees maybe a little in the way but my old dss systems had no trouble.

i have tried different transponders.

Any help would be apreciated.

thanks

Here's your problem, well one of them anyways...

You are trying to find a C-band transponder using a KU band dish. The KU band transponders start at 11,780 MHz for G3C. Check out lyngsat here...---> http://www.lyngsat.com/g3c.html

Try setting the receiver to a KU band transponder and go from there. Other members have posted that they have trouble aligning the dish using the Twinhan card. You may be better off borrowing a FTA receiver from someone and use that to align the dish.

Also, the "trees" worry me a bit. Just because your DTV dish had no problems, remember that it was stationary. Now that you are setting up a motor the dish must have a much wider "view" to the satellites.

Also, disable the DiSEqC switch; you don't use one if you are using a motor.

thank you for the prompt response.

two more questions:

I have managed to lock on to the G3 sattelite with a maximum strength of 45% and quality of about 40%. And actually have seen some channels. I really dont think the trees are a problem as my best view without obstruction is directly south.
I can move the antenna aproximatly +/- 2 degrees in the from left to right with the same signal but not up and down (elevation).

Any thoughts on different Twinhan settings, such as data burst, tone burst, and or the 22khz selection.

Also it has not recognized that I have a hh motor installed. My only two options on setup are stationary versus diseqc??

thanks in advance.

I'm not familiar with the Twinhan but tone burst should be OFF, 22KHz OFF; I have no idea what data burst is.

If you look through the DiSEqC settings you should see DiSEqC 1.2... this is the motor setting.
