dish pole fins

ANyone know more about this? Is it an alternative to cementing a pole? I'm not sure I understand the concept 100% from the description on the website.

Yes. Basically, you slide the polefin about 24" from the bottom of the pole. Then you use the self drilling screws to secure it to the pole tube.

You Drive the bole with the fin on it into the ground using a fence pole hammer. The polefin must be 10=12" below the ground level. Of course you have to be careful when digging a pole with this polefin on it for any undergraound cabeling or gas lines.

After the pole is in the ground, you will have to cut the top 2-3" part of the pole (because it gets damaged or bent due to hammering the pole).

Interesting. Do you know how sturdy it is? WHat do you think recommended maximum dish size is? Is it not safe enough for 120cm?

I am thinking about pouring concrete next weekend or the following weekend, but if I could get away from doing it, it would keep my wife happy (because it won't seem as pemanent ).

Also, wouldn't it be hard to kep thepole level and plumb when trying to hammer it down.

exactly what I was thinking. I'd get the bugger tamped in about 10 degrees off with no way to fix it...

What about using that quick set mailbox concrete?

I don't think this polefin idea is any good for any dish over 36" and not for any motorized dish for sure. It is good for 18-24" dishes in my opnion. But, in my opinion, nothing beats a good cement job.
