Winegard the better 30" FTA dish?
Is Winegard the better dish or are there better choices?
Is 30" enough for the NE US for FTA or a larger dish necessary? I have a clear shot.

For NE or NW USA, I strongley suggest a 90cm dish. Anything less than that will get you a weak signal.
Good luck.

Nothing seems huge for Ku. In dish world bigger is better. Basically it all depends what are yo looking to get. If you want IA5 stuff you are ok with 31-36". If you want alot of other stuff that occasionally pops up and often not with strongest signal, bigger is better.
I started of with 31", wasn't too satisfied, and moved to 36". I wanted more and now I have 48" dish (120cm).

I understand larger is better with almost any antenna, but those numbers are starting to approach the BUD status. :mozilla_surprised:

almost, though those are in the 8-12ft range. I have a 90cm (around 4 ft?) KU dish. In the NW I am able to get alot, but there are still some weak transponders (mostly news feeds) that i'm not able to get from time to time. I probably could with a 120cm dish though.
the non-DBS satellites transmit at a relatively low power, hence the larger dish size.

I guess the 30" is out, but I don't know about anything larger than 36". Surely, 4' is way to large for where it will go.

I don't think it's "out". I'm in Western NY area and use 80cm dish.
I get lots of neat stuff. I receive the hard-to-get Virgin Islands NBC station at my location.
Although 33 or 36" would be nice, you can have lots of fun with 80cm dish.
If you're in the tip of Maine, well.... :mozilla_cry:
