Wacky signal situation

Please help

I have a SatCruiser DSR101 and trying to get Telstar 5 for international channels. As soon as I connect the cable to the LNB, my signal goes to and stays at 57 and my quality never goes above 0, even when I point the dish to the ground, the signal remains at 57! I programmed the reciever at someone's house and the reciever was working fine. I dont have a ground connection, could that be why? or do I need a polarizer motor?

Your either not aimed at the right satellite or you have selected an inactive transponder. Go to www.lyngsat.com and make sure you select an active transponder, if you are aimed at T5 then you will show quality. T5 is not the easiest satellite to find because it is sandwiched near some very strong DBS birds. If the reciever was working fine at a friends house it's then most likely that the dish is not aimed correctly.

Also make sure the "LNB POWER" is "ON" and the L.O. frequency is set for the type of LNB you have; standard (10,750 MHz) or universal (10,600 MHz). With the Satcruiser DSR-101 its a little tricky to find the LNB settings; From Main Menu go down to INSTALLATION, then TP CONFIGURATION then scroll down to LNB and press "OK" - that will show you the LNB settings.
