c band LNBF

I have in my possesion a BUD (Like I need another...I do, I do) but it came with a C band LNBF. So begs the question how and what do I hook it to? Does this work off of my Mpeg 2 FTA or does it need a 4dtv reciever? It has only a coax out the back of it and I researched as best I could and it takes 13 to 18 volts. I can best gather it will do c band analog and digital but how does it polaraize and from what?

The C band lnbf you have works basiclly like a ku band lnbf on a small dish would. The polarity is controlled via 13/18 volt switching internally, which is provided by the operating receiver .

The lnbf itself can be controlled by iether a fta/mpeg2 receiver or a 4DTV/analog receiver.

However to move and operate the big dish from one satellite to another you will need a receiver equiped with 36volt actuator control (ie: 4DTV or older analog). Some of the european market dvb receivers have this capabilty but are not very easy to come by.

Thanks spyder,

I was aware of the dish movement as I have one in place currently. The LNBF is what threw me. I think I will need another reciever though (OH Darn) as the coship (CDVB2300B) I have does not have the power to control the LNBF, it seems to only do 0/12 volts. I guess I get to go reciever shopping to upgrade. Now if only they came out with a few more 4:2:2 recievers and HDTV capable ones. Oh well all things in good time it is taking time for the foriegn manufacturers to stop thinking euro centric as we are moving toward fully HD and they are too.

I would check that Coship unit before investing into another receiver. Almost all mpeg2/dvb reveivers will switch using the 13/18v method. This is also how they control polarity on the ku band lnbf's they normally operate.

The coship may not show it in the menu/options screens, but many show it when you select polarity. Vetical = 13v Horizontal = 18v. The 13/18v polarity switching is really a standard among dvb receivers and I would be very surprised if one did not support it.
