C-band dish and an HH motor.

I know that they make HH motors for 8-10' dishs, does any one here have one? and if so, does it work on the same lines as the Stab HH motor? In other words, can it be moved by the signal sent through the coax?

No. They work on the same standard as regular big dish actuators.3 or 4 wire reed/hall type sensors. Difference is the positioning shaft is positioned through the motor/gearbox, which allows a full 150-180 degree of rotation.

Sounds to me the ultimate setup is a 10' Dish with an HH motor, a C-band and KU band LNB with polarizer. I assume setting up or positioning a 10' Dish with an HH is much like a 36" dish with a Stab HH.

I consider that to be the ultimate setup myself. Mainly because getting C band on a small dish is hit and miss at best. Mainly miss

As for setup, well kinda, but a lot more involved since the dish and mount together weigh around 80-100 lbs. Much like the small dish, it's best to run from one end to the other several times fine tuning all along the way. Once you've gotten the dish adjustments made then the setup in the receiver is about the same. The stab motors work on lat/long setings and the big mount works on pulse counts for positioning like the linear actuators for the big dishes do.

Only bad thing is only one company I know of still manufactures a 'consumer' H-H mount for the 10-12 footers. You can sometimes get lucky and find a used mount, but if not a new one will run at least $400, usually more. That's the big drawback to that type of system. But the reception you get is the real prize.

Yeah I was looking at one from Skyvision. I can imagine fine tuning will suck, but will be well worth it. Plus I got a guy giving my a 12' Dish that looks to be like new. Its not the round kind, more like an octogon or something, but very nice. I Think most of it is made of plastic or something, but looks like a black mesh dish. Really cool. I will be a few months before I get it all hook up and running, but I have just the right type of land, with no trees for a very long ways on all sides. I can hardly wait!

Sounds like that the land is in your favor.

I have some trees to the west, but luckily I can just sneek by them and get AMC7. To the east I'm clear all the way to T12.

You'll really enjoy that system once you get it up and running. It's sometimes a lot of work, but in the end it's really worth it. And you get the satisfaction of conquering the task.
