Any good FTA any more ?

Good FTA programs (EuroNews, Fashion TV) had slowly moved to paid TV. I wonder whether any thing else worth watching on FTA.

Good FTA

Depends on what you want to watch, you can get all the networks except for CBS, a few news channels, some PBS like stations and some Sports channels all by tuning into just 4 sats, Galaxy 10, AMC 5, SBS 6 and T6. If you want movies and specialty channels then pay TV is your best option, but then just how much TV do you want to watch.

Thanks Magog45 for your info. Could you (or Sadoun) educate satellite users on how to interpret the LyngSat list. As an example on your suggested satellite SB6:

On SB6, only TP11730H was listed as F, the rest are "feed", can we watch other TP's listed as "feed" under encryption of "DVB" or "NTSC". If yes how ?? I will be very happy if able to watch CNN listed AMC5 at TP12045V, DVB 3979-3/4.

Thanks for your help

everything marked as NTSC on lyngsat is a analog channel. It can't be received with any DVB FTA receivers (well there was one that Sadoun used to sell that could receive both, but that was awhile ago). You can buy analog receivers for pretty cheap on ebay.

Everything marked as F is Free To Air. Everything in gray and usually labeled as a "feed" is just that a feed. That means that occasionaly something might pop up there. IT is by no means a 24/7 signal and it will go days without anything on it and then maybe have a 15 minute usage by CNN or ABC or whoever leases that transponder.

If you want to watch feeds like that your cheapest bet is to buy a Blind Search receiver (like Lifetime Ultra that Sadoun sells) and you would just select that satellit and thell it to search for any active frequencies on it. It will give you even more stuff than what is listed on lyngsat.

Thank you VJ9999 for your explanation.
It turns out the recommended satellite SBS-6 has 2 watchable (F) channels at tp11730. That all.

Can we watch channels marked as DVB encryption instead of F ??

There are 2 different collor codings for DVB. If it has pinkish background then iti is encrypted and you cannot wathc it without authorization. If it has yellowis background than it should be FTA.

If you look on http://www.lyngsat.com/amc5.html for example. Each line in the table will be of a certain color.

If you scroll all the way down lyngsat has a little description what each color represents.
