I have a 920 lying around, so.....

I was wondering since I haven't been able to install my 7.5' dish could I use the 920 to get ku band from these small dishes like X4 so I could possibly get GSN or even ku stuff in the clear? I have a 30" offset dish at the moment. If this is possible how could it be achieved? I have an fta receiver with motor that could be slaved or whatever.

If your FTA receiver has a loop out, connect that to your 920 receiver. That simple..

My fta rec. has a loop out so how do I connect

to the 920? Does it go into the "input from lnb" connecion on 920?
Also will I be able to pick up any ku this way from 30" dish through the 920? Sorry for all the questions but this stuff is new to me, slaving and stuff. I would like to get X4 off the 920 and other non fta ku stuff. I have a 7.5' dish but at the time my landlord hasn't let me install it. Thanks

The receiver needs to be activated with a subscription before you can get any of the FTA DCII channels. Not sure if you can do that ku only.

I called nps and they said I could subscribe to a digital pack that includes ku channels. They said I could even get a hit as long as I was on a ku dcII ch. But that's impossible since ch maps can't be dl on ku only system. The only sats I have in my ku menu are X0, a2 and X7. There is no possible way to dl the maps. I was hoping I could at least see some of the fta from the 4dtv. But I can't get any vid off the 920 but do get dc locks on some channels.

I finally got around to getting big dish back up

So now I have all the ch maps and the guide. I purchased the absolute dig pack plus GSN from NPS. I ran the ku lnbf from the 30" dish into the ku in of the 920 then changed the dish setting to ku lnbf and finally moved the dish to G4 via 1020a. I tuned to the dig channels on X4 in the 920 but nothing worked. So I went into dish settings and changed lnbf to Rotated 90 and I got a lock on all the dig channels on X4 with a perfect pic and all the dmx channels were perfect. So my question now is, does anyone know of any other ku sats that have 4dtv dig ch on them? Would like to try some more sats. Also does anyone know of any analog ku channels that I could try with the 30" dish?. The guide doesn't show much in the way of what's on ku analog. Will the 30" work with analog ku in the 920 like ku digital does? Thanks.........

look at lyngsat for dcii channels.
Also look for many sports feeds , although unpublished and not in the guide, on ku as well. SBS6 usually has good analog feeds, sports and news.
College football season springs up countless feeds on many ku satellites.
Sign up for one of the sports backhaul or wildfeeds list via email,, they're great.

What is the 4dtv name of sbs6...

so that I can program the sat in the 920? How would analog ku work with the 920 and the 30" dish and lnbf? Would I just get on sbs6 via 1020a then channel up and down in the 920? Or will I have to use opt 6778 to manually tune the frequency of the channel to get anything? For example on X4 I get all the dig channels but nothing on the analog channels. Thanks for your input. It is much apprecieted.

What you can do is add a SBS-6 as a sat on the 920. Use option 6,4,4 and select B6 to add SBS-6. This will install SBS-6 in the 920 and provide you with the correct transponder polarities and freq's for the channels. Then use the 1020a to move the dish to SBS-6 and then change the channels on the 920. This should get you some analog feeds. All analog channels are numbers below 100. In the mornings during the week you can usaually find atleast a coulple of news feeds. One thing you might want to do if you haven't is to setup the 920 to step mode so it will do all channels of the same polarity first before doing the opposite polarity as I assume you are using the 1020a to contol polarity. Hope this makes sense. You might also check out 4dtvforums if you haven't already.
