SF-95 Signal Meter

Does the SF95 DSS Satellite Finder recognize specific satellites only. I would be installing a Star Choice Dish and need to point it to Anik F1 (107.3) and Anik E2 (111.1) and want to make sure the SF95 is compatible with this system.

Thanks

Hi

This device will not identify the satellite for you. It will only give an indicator that there is a satellite signal. The indicator needle and tone pitch will go higher as the signal gets stronger (i.e. your dish is aimed squarely on the satellite).

It works in conjunction with your receiver and TV screen.

The manual provided with SF 95 is quite brief and what is the best procedure to get the optimum signal from any located satellites? Can you advise users of SF 95 in detail on getting the best signal.? Also using digital decorder is even much more difficult to get the satellite picture. Any help is appreciated.

Using the signal meter:

1~ Make sure you calculate the correct dish angles (azimuth, elevatio, tilt) using the online calculator here!

2~ Use instructions above to connect your meter.

3~ Point your dish in the direction calculated. Use a compass to determine your Azimuth direction.

4~ Use the knob on the meter to move the meter's needle to 5 position.

5~ Move the dish slowly and notice the movement of the needle.[/img]

Yhank you for the reply. I have done that and after your step 5 then what? Still no signal yet or the receiver. Now I am slowly turning the polar axis and declinator angle per 1mm screw up and down and signals increased but nothing? What can be wrong???

SF 95 weird signals

Recently I noticed that after swinging to satellite positions, the SF 95 jumps up and down even without wind. Can anyone explain why? I have also set the SA lower but it still does it. Am I getting reflected signals or some signal are blocked even the signals are peak?

SF-95

Hello

When using the SF-95 to find Ku band birds, will my 10ft. dish give the meter enough selectivity to distinguish between close together birds?

In other words, will it focus the signal enough to reject the satellites to the side of the intended target?

Jim

I will honestly tell you that the meter is good only for DTV and Dish, I ended up buying a Birdog after much frustration. I found the satelite in about 2 minutes with the Birdog, I know it's pricey but worth every penny.
