Most popular satellite?

What do most people who want general viewing choose. I am seriously considering purchasing the Twin Han. I live in OHIO and the footprints for most of the birds are very strong in my area. I do not require encrytion as I already pay for Dish Net. I am on the 110 / 119 Echostar with this dish. I used C band dish years ago, I liked the feeds from the networks and all the reruns. What do you suggest?

Re: Most popular satellite?

It depends on what kind of programs you are interested in. For ethnic channels, T5 has ton of them. For local channels, G10R.
Check lyngsat.com for more info.

In particular, in lyngsat, check out "Free TV" for a complete listing, by country of origin, of all free-to-air channels and their corresponding satellites; and then determine the most appropriate satellite for you.

If you want feeds, mostly news, check T6 and Galaxy 11.
Sometimes also AMC6, especially sports.

These news feeds are not active all the time. Best time to check is in the afternoon, 5 or 6 pm.

Thanks dtsexpert. If they are not avalable all the time, my receiver won't find signal while searching through, how one know when they are avalable, and what is the reason to have channels that way. Thanks in advance.

No fix schedule for these transponders. These transponders are used for some local channels. Let say your local channel shows news about a car accident. If the car accident location is a bit far away from the station, they will need to use satellite to transmit the signal to the station.
